Remove Class Extension

Description

This is an Add-in for ArcCatalog. In categories 'Remove class extension' you have two buttons: remove class extension and remove instance class.

Remove Class Extension

Select from ArcCatalog a feature class from tab Contents

Select feature class

If you have a feature class that has a class extension associated or a feature class that is a custom object whose behavior class you can use this add-in that remove the reference and set null.

When previewing a feature class or adding it to a map, one of the following error messages occurs:

  • “Error opening feature class. Unable to create object class extension COM component.”
  • “Error opening feature class. Unable to create object class COM component.”

In the first case, the feature class has a class extension associated that is not installed on the client machine. Using remove class extension you resolve this problem.

In the second case, the feature class is a custom object whose behavior class is not installed on the client machine. Using remove instance class you resolve this problem.

This add-in runs also for annotation and dimension with class extension or custom object

Tool buttons are disabled

Hi -
I installed the addin and added the buttons to an existing menu, but when I go to the feature class that has the object extensions and receive the error, after clicking OK the buttons are still disabled. How can I enable them & use them? I'm currently on 10.4 w/no sp/patches. Thanks!

unable to add add-in

I'm a front-end user with little or no programming experience, so please forgive me if this a no-brainer. For whatever reason, I can't get this add-in onto ArcGIS 10.4. It doesn't seem to have any component library file types that the add-in manager recognizes (.dll, .esriAddIn, .tlb). There is an .esriaddinx file in the folder, but add-in manager does not recognize it. Removing the ‘x’ doesn’t work either. Nor does copying the github add-in folder into my default “AddIns” folder for Desktop10.4. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

10.5 Compatibility

hi,

The two icons are greyed out when I select FGDB or feature classes. I am using ArcGIS Desktop 10.5. Have you developed the 10.5 version?

Thanks,
Azin

Issue ' Not found component register so I don't see the UID.......'

Hi,
I have installed the AddIn from https://github.com/nicogis/RemoveClassExtension/releases
I am using ArcCatalog / ArcMap 10.8.2
I have added the tools to a new toolbar
I create a direct connection into an ArcSDE (10.8.2) Oracle19C Geodatabase
I have a number of Featureclasses in the database with Featureclass extensions
When I select a featureclass and click on the 'Remove Class Extension' or 'Remove Instance Class' button I get the message 'Not found component register so I don't see the UID:do I have to remove class extension? Are you sure?'
Do you know why I am getting this message?
Are the tools compatible with 10.8.2?
Thanks
