Instead of having a sliding menu, I believe that I should implement a parent activity. This activity will not only manage the categories and feeds but also allow you to select which to see at any moment.

To help with UX, we should apply an animation where the categories slide in from the left side and out into the left side. It will solidify the idea that it is only a top level menu.

It seems like there are a lot of HTML tags that are widely used in RSS feeds but are not very well implemented in Android's Text Views.

This is a possible solution to the issue. It involves us implementing our own tag parser and replacing those tags with standard characters.

The accepted answer also lists tags that are supported and we could probably deduce which are not.
