SarPy_Apps

This provides a set of GUI tools based on tkinter for visualizing and interacting with SAR imagery and related data.

Origins

This was developed to enable simple prototyping of graphical user interfaces useful in conjunction with SarPy project, and was based on and motivated by the set of MATLAB tools developed by NGA/NRL referred to as TASER. This effort was developed at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). The software use, modification, and distribution rights are stipulated within the MIT license.

Dependencies

The core library functionality depends on the sarpy and tk_builder projects.

Integration Branches

Integration branches (branches prefixed with integration/) are used to stage content under consideration for inclusion in the master branch and future releases. These branches can be used to access features and bug fixes that have not been fully released.

PyPI publication of sarpy_apps

Considered reorganization of panel/tool locations in the repository

The panels created so far are located in some directory nested below whatever tool is associated. Some of the panels are very general purpose, and moving the general panels to some more obvious and accessible/discoverable centralized location should be considered.

Refine labelling tool, requirements for this are not entirely clear.

This is low priority for now

`canvas_demo.py` crashes in Gnome Shell Wayland

System: Debian 10, Gnome Shell+Wayland
Hardware: Intel CPU/Integrated Graphics

When running canvas_demo.py on my machine, it crashes with the following error whenever you mouse over a dropdown menu.

Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.

Hover type tooltip thing - so you can see pixel information by hovering (or something?)

Multi-reader support

Our GUI tools need to support readers with more than one image segment and/or meta-data object.

1.) Stream-lining the functionality should begin with the taser tool viewer.
2.) This functionality, once streamlined, should be extended to:
i.) aperture tool
ii.) wake tool.
3.) This should be prohibited (for now) in the annotation tool, because of ambiguities in the labelling. A framework for permitting or prohibiting should be envisioned.
4.) This functionality must be fused with the meta-icon.

Annotation tool improvements

Treeview for created objects/labels.
Linking of the treeview to the labelled objects, so we selecting one "highlights" the other -whatever that could or should mean.

Also formatting/style information associated for the gui/display. This requires a change to the label schema, as currently implemented, and requires changes to the sarpy repository also. What we should do probably requires more clarification here.
