Currently, you can't mute the channel, but still get notifications of mentions because they're not full mentions. The challenge is making sure github and slack usernames match...or do a lookup from a list and translate one to the other.

Without muting possible, subscribing to #devops can be very chatty.

It appears that setting up a new app webhook requires pushing a new commit to GitHub in order for Longshore to build the app for the first time.

Would there be interest in building from GitHub's ping event, which is sent when a webhook is first created? I suppose a downside would be if a build is not desired on the initial set up.

Also to avoid empty commits, I could also see the argument for using the ping event to trigger a rebuild, in the case of some build failure that isn't caused by the repository code.
