Are you sure you're running current master? The graphic is TODO, but the turrets actually being cannons was fixed a while ago (in 9ad4b7a).

I haven't tested if they behave like turrets. It may just be the documentation for the outfitters.

You're very likely running an older commit (or are running from ndata and haven't done 'make ndata' recently). The only thing that's actually defined explicitly for the outfitter is the description. Everything else is used identically in the outfitter and in space, so if it says it's a cannon in the outfitter, it's a cannon in space (and likewise for turrets).
