FotoDino Feedback
Hello @musabbihanoor ,
I am a member of FotoDino team and I am responsible for looking at our app. Thank you being patient as we had quite a number of submissions and took a while to get to yours.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the interest and time to apply and also to create the test project. We created the test so we can check if the applicants are a fit for our company. Your demo app has a few problems that may make it difficult for us to choose you. The issues are listed below:
UI/UX and navigation
This job is a frontend job, which means your app's appearance and usability are very important. We were not looking for a world class design with beautiful animations, we were looking at how usable the app is and how the information is presented to the user.
There is no way to go back home after selecting a city or searching, and no indication of what can be done on the application. For example, there is no way of going back to the full list of cities from this screen except by reloading the application:
You can design a nice application, but if it confuses the user, there is no way they are going to use it. Here are some of the UI/UX problems I found:
- The
City Form
remains static while theSee more
card on the right doesn't - The
See more
card spans the entire height of the page while showing nothing more on it. - The
City Form
has no border or shadow around it likeSee more
card does. - The
See more
card can be dismissed whileCity Form
cannot. This leads to a waste of space. - The text
Places to visit
is the same color as all call to action buttons, implying it is a link of some sort, but it does nothing. - The
sort by
drop down is in what looks like is supposed to be a nav bar, and is completely disconnected from the form. It is there for impossible to know what you are sorting by. Also, it doesn't fit with the rest of the page styles. - There is
n locations to visit
under each city, but no way of viewing said locations. - The
Search
button has a low contrast color in comparison to the background, making it hard to even see it. - Clicking on
See more
button sometimes causes the page to scroll unnecessarily, as seen below.
404 errors
Your applications seems to be making queries to an unknown api endpoint.
No locations view.
The cities are there and visible, but there is no way of viewing or even managing locations. It makes this whole app pointless because if your interest was in booking a hotel, how would you do that?
Closing thoughts
What you made is impressive, but the issues that plague the app are more than the average user can stand. If you wish to correct the issues, you have 48 more hours to do so, until Thursday 23/09/2021. If and when you make the improvements, reply to this issue ticket so I can find it. If you do not wish to continue with the application, please reply to this issue ticket or message Ivo.
Thank you,
Ted
