Hi,
i tried The King of Fighters NeoWave, the Atomiswave port, but unfortunately it doesn't boot correctly. After several seconds, there is only a black screen and it is available only sound.
Thank you
I would like to suggest a couple of changes to ease people's minds whenever OpenMenu is being booted:
Hi,
i noticed that there are the following covers+metadata not available:
Please, can you add them?
thanks
Describe the bug
Numbered folders are used for each game, starting at 02 (01 is reserved for GD/open Menu). If you get up to folder '256' or higher, the games do not load properly. In fact, they appear to load other games on the SD card as if it was an overflow bug on the folder number being treated as an unsigned byte.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Expected behavior
Games in folders above 256 should work properly. They do with the original GDMenu v0.6
Please wee need an asset editor.
to make some meta translate. and add missings meta.
to add missing covers. so many after market games have no cover (and for few games who have needed name changing like kof... King of, the king of... to have all in the same place these games have needed renaming...)
to correct cover error like hokuto no ken.
please help us
When there are games with multiple discs, the cover art is repeated, in some cases showing 4 of the same cover (D2 is an example). Adding a toggle to hide all covers except for disc 1 in the Grid and standard menu would clean up the clutter.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, please direct me to a forum if there is one.
I have an SD card previously set up with GDEMU which I am trying to convert to openMenu. I followed the instructions on the wiki and everything seems to be working fine, except that all of the box art is missing and just shows a placeholder image. The name, description and other metadata shows up just fine. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi, i have an issue with the .cdi image of The Ghost Blade. The game boot, but after the opening, the game reboot and it appears again the Game select screen of OpenMenu.
Is it possible to fix it?
thanks!
Hello.
First of all, thanks for your great work here!
About the issue:,
This happens to me every single time I try to manage VMU files, not a random issue.
Could you kindly have a look?
Thanks and best regards.
Hi there,
The last public release was back in Dec 2021. Will there be any future updates or has the project been abandoned?
Hi
I added to GDEMU FIst of the North Star, the atomiswave port. The game works fine, but the cover and metadata are wrong, the game is associated to THE RUMBLE FISH:
https://i.postimg.cc/59v7Xpy9/IMG-3235.jpg
Is it possible to fix it, please?
And when i load it with GDMENU Card Manager, it detects it with a little typing error (FIRST instead of FIST): https://i.postimg.cc/vH0WT6rH/Fist.png
thanks
If i enter in the BONUSES section, it isn't possible to choose the 2nd section, the GALLERY 1: https://i.postimg.cc/gkHzdVPr/Cattura2.png
This section is available if i try the game with an emulator, so it seems that it is an issue of GDEMU? If i push the DOWN button, it is not possible to choose the GALLERY 1.
Thanks
I was trying out the latest version of openMenu with my Dreamcast recently and I noticed that a couple of Japanese games and other titles were missing cover art and descriptions. I compiled a list of the software I have that had those issues in openMenu. DoA2SGB had the right cover art, but it was missing a description.

At least 4 games (Next Tetris Online Edition, NFL Blitz 2000, NBA Showtime, and Nightmare Creatures II - TOSEC versions) don't work with a SCART 31Khz adapter to OSSC. I get an "Unsupported AV Cable" screen. Openmenu doesn't seem to have an option to force VGA in the menu, and I read it is supposed to do it automatically.
If I use the Test version of GdmenuCardManager and install Gdmenu instead, I am able to use Gdmenu's Force VGA option to run the games in VGA mode.
Hi,
i choose SORT = NAME, i push APPLY and SAVE and the games are correctly sorted by NAME. But if i turn off the console, when i turn on it again, the games aren't sorted by name anymore...even if the option is kept saved:
https://i.postimg.cc/vDFC6NFf/Cattura4.png
So every time i turn on the console, i have to push START and then i push SAVE: in this way there is a "biiiiip" sound from my VMU unit and the games are correctly sorted by name.
Currently my VMU has a totally low battery: do you think that this could be the cause of the issue ot the sort by name?
thanks
Hello, I noticed that there are no metadat and boxarts for the EvilTwin game, I also looked at the META.DAT file and did not find the required ID. Hello from Russia, thanks for your development work! Sorry for my English)

As another user mentioned, there is no 50hz mode so it can't display on 50hz only pal tvs (yes they exist). It would be very nice to include a selector between 50 and 60 hz at the start of openmenu or in the settings, or make another separate 50hz version. sorry if it sounds like too much and if it's not possible i totally understand. thanks for reading.
Hi,
I have over 130 games on my sd card and Open menu is showing only 95 of them. I've done everything following the instruction. When I write to sd card standard GDmenu it is showing all of my games. Can you help me?

Hi there, I have a question about using this nifty little menu version on an arcade cabinet...
I installed openmenu (using the instructions referred to here) and I can get the Dreamcast to boot to the "Licensed by Sega" screen, but once the system loads past that, I get a black screen that blips every few seconds.
Now - to be clear, this is not running on a standard TV, nor an HDTV. This is running on what is called an MGCD.
Quick rundown: The MGCD allows a Dreamcast to run in an arcade cabinet (15khz monitor) without any modification to the console what-so-ever. Its quite literally plug and play.
Running GDMenu (vanilla) works just fine and loads the GDMenu and Game X or Y, but trying to run OpenMenu results in the black screen I mentioned before. I have a feeling the arcade cabinet being in the mix might be the issue, but I just want to make sure. To clarify, I did indeed grab the .GDI version of GDMenu from the site, and I've ensured the appropriate files are in the appropriate folder/root/etc after using GDMenuCardManager.
Is OpenMenu not friendly with 15khz 4x3 displays? I hope that doesn't sound like a dumb question, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something in the set up. I did do a rudimentary search in the thread on Dreamcast-Talk for 'arcade' and only came across some mentions of Atomiswave games and another Dreamcast game with the word Arcade in it. No really - I did a Ctrl-F on all 42 pages of that thread for 'arcade' and other than those few hits I came up with bupkis lol.
If OpenMenu is not friendly with 15khz monitors then there we go - question answered and I wont be able to use it, sadly. At least not on the arcade.
Sadly I'm not able to test it on a regular TV at the moment because I don't currently have my HDMI adapter, nor a Composite capable TV in the house.
Thanks for any help!
I got the newest release from card manager and from openmenu, and I can’t open settings in the UI. If I press start it just reorganize the titles. Is there any way to open the settings window?
thanks
Would be nice to have keyboard and mouse support.

Is it possible to force VGA mode the same way you can in gdmenu? It's not allowing me to do so and I can't get Dino Crisis to work.
Seven Mansions is also displaying a black screen with no audio or visual.
Hi
I have a PAL console and PAL CRT.
The menu seems to load in 60hz mode which this CRT can't display, it fails vertical sync and scrolls indefinitely.
When loading a PAL game everything displays normally. The console is connected via composite.
Is it possible to force PAL/50hz mode for the menu?
I've tested with another CRT that supports NTSC&PAL which the image displayed perfectly, so I don't believe it's a console issue.
Thanks!
Tested games from all three regions but all show the same issue.

any update for the boxart data?
Currently if there is no product ID match in the BOXART or ICON DATs, OpenMenu loads a generic "Not Found" CD jewel case image.
Can it first check for a PVR in the GDi like GDMENU did and load that. If there is no PVR in the GDi then have it load the generic jewel case.
This would help in homebrew cases without the need of building a custom DAT.
I have tried to switch from GDMENU to OpenMenu + your fork of GDMenuCardManager and boot the games I had on my SD card. All of those games are GDIs pre-ReDump or CDI. All of them are PAL versions.
None of them work properly at 50 Hz. Some games (Alone In The Dark, Soldier of Fortune, Crazy Taxi) just don't boot, they simply go to a black screen followed by a reboot of the OpenMenu. Others, (Resident Evil 2, Shenmue I, Shenmue II) manage to boot properly, but the video mode selection screen is displayed with the wrong method, outputting a B/W image with the wrong colors until I select the 60Hz mode.
I'm using an old GDEMU, a v5.4 from 2014, recently updated to the latest firmware. I have confirmed that all these discs work correctly with the original GDMENU v0.6.
i have been trying to play Zombie Revenge and for whatever reason it loads the wrong game, im not sure if i have too many games or am doing something wrong but i double checked in GDMENUManager and it seemed to load the correct image there (popping that numbered file into RetroArch), everything worked fine on the stock GDemu menu
The Dreamcast boots into a black screen after initial Dreamcast swirl when booting up. VMU shows openmenu on its screen but my TV is black. I followed the installation instructions to a "T." I am using a clone gdemu. Could that be the reason?
EDIT: I also happen to be using an NTSC-U Dreamcast with composite cable.
Hello sir
va1 Japan.
Also the GD menu is not working for me. I select the game in gd menu and it doesn't load it from the menu.
solution is to write a single folder 01 with the game in the gdi format. only then does it work.
Help me please
The Codebreaker CDI for Dreamcast cheats, when launched will not prompt to load game. It will load like it's a normal CD instead. Reverting back to the standard GDMenu Corrects the issue.
For games with more than one disc, have the line description UI show a CD icon and a disc #.
I realize this is alpha, so I'm not asking for immediate additions, but this is purely for tracking purposes.
It would be nice not to have to take the SD card out to be able to get to the Dreamcast main menu to manage VMU files.
Boxart is ok but missing Metadata.
multidisc # on gridview
disc # cannot be seen,
everything else works exceptionally well nonetheless
this is really really really good :)
Hey! Is it possible to install the openMenu on SD card without making use of GDMENUCardManager? Will it be enough to put contents to 01
folder?
PS: Thanks for your hard work 🙏🏻!
If you plan to use different art work for ICON and BOX (example: ICON is 3D boxart, BOX is a screenshot of the game) BOX loads ICON first for about a second and then loads BOX. Is this intended, or is it possible for it to load BOX right away?
