It requires Qt5. You can install qt5 on 12.04 using the Ubuntu SDK team's PPA:

And now it installs but won't run. I think I'll play the old fashioned way,
dig and explore.

There's a bug in 2.0 that doesn't handle worlds built in 1.7. 2.0.1 fixes that.
