content-2012.mozillafestival.org's Introduction

content-2012.mozillafestival.org

The wp-content directory for an update to the Mozilla Festival website (http://mozillafestival.org) so that everything looks lovely, fresh and clean for 2012.

Using locally

This is just the theme directory for the Mozilla Festival website (minus the uploads) so if you want to help us out by fixing bugs or adding features you first want to set up a local wordpress install.

Once you've got that up and running check out the theme in a separate location, alongside your local wordpress and set up a local VirtualHost pointing to the content-2012.mozillafestival.org/wp-content. Below is a stripped down version of what I use on my mac (running a local apache webserver).

<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot "/Users/rossilla/Sites/dev-content-2012.mozillafestival.org/wp-content"
    ServerName dev-content-2012.mozillafestival.org
</VirtualHost>

The final thing to do is add the following two lines to your local wp-config.php, this tells your local WordPress install where to look for the wp-content directory.

define('WP_CONTENT_DIR', '/Users/rossilla/Sites/dev-content-2012.mozillafestival.org/wp-content');
define('WP_CONTENT_URL', 'http://dev-content-2012.mozillafestival.org');

content-2012.mozillafestival.org's Issues

Lots of code, few comments

As the theme has grown in complexity there are a few files that can probably do with a few comments, to highlight what they're supposed to do and to highlight whatever hacks might have had to go in.

Looking at things the main ones in need of this are:

CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file missing

As of January 1 2019, Mozilla requires that all GitHub projects include this CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file in the project root. The file has two parts:

  1. Required Text - All text under the headings Community Participation Guidelines and How to Report, are required, and should not be altered.
  2. Optional Text - The Project Specific Etiquette heading provides a space to speak more specifically about ways people can work effectively and inclusively together. Some examples of those can be found on the Firefox Debugger project, and Common Voice. (The optional part is commented out in the raw template file, and will not be visible until you modify and uncomment that part.)

If you have any questions about this file, or Code of Conduct policies and procedures, please reach out to [email protected].
