Do you mean what the title says now?

In light of pull request #26, wouldn't it make more sense to allow all users to de-anonymize their parts but leave the right to publish at the story starter?

I'm not sure about this.

  • Is there any point in de-anonymizing? Personally, I don't care about who wrote what in stories I did not participate in.
  • It might take a long time until every participant has acknowledged publication. Currently, the story starter can quickly publish it after it finished.
  • What if I wrote something, I regret writing? Not making it public is only a first step. In addition I would like to anonymize it even for my co-writers. However, if I'm the only anonymized, it is not anonymous at all.

I just thought that if one of the participants really want everybody to know that this ingenious story part came from them, why not let them de-anonymize their parts?
But maybe this feature is not that demanded right now...Also, if some participants de-anonimize, this could incur social pressure on the other participants, which I do not really want.

Right, this can be annoying.

A solution for that would be that every author has the right to anonymize the story entirely, even for the co-authors...

Or simply prominently warn the users that stories will possibility be publicly visible?

Warnings and prompts are usually ignored.

Or maybe decide at story creation time whether it is supposed to be a private thing, or public? Like on Facebook...

I also thought about something like this. Additionally, the others should maybe get the right to veto, if the story creator has decided the story to be public. Every contributor can exercise this right at any time.
