@Sachin-23 . I think I localized the issue: it happens with Python 3.12 that we didn't test yet ...

@arjunsuresh . I can reproduce this error when installing python 3.12 on Ubuntu via CM and then rerunning above command:

cm run script --tags=get,python --version=3.12.1
cm run script --tags=app,mlcommons,mlperf,inference,cpp

@Sachin-23 . It seems that python 3.11.7 works fine with Ubuntu. Can you please just check that it will work you Mac as follows:

cm rm cache -f
cmr "get python" --version=3.11.7
cmr "app mlcommons mlperf inference cpp"

We will check Python 3.12.1 in the meantime ... Thanks a lot again for reporting this issue!

@arjunsuresh . I localized the issue. It's with pkg_resources package missing in Python 3.12 by default ... I am checking how to report the error properly and fix this dependency ...

It is needed to detect package version ... We redirect the output to err file in the script but we do not print it in case of error and that's why we don't even see it ...

@Sachin-23 . I believe I fixed the issues related to Python 3.12 that should fix your problem above. I pushed it to our dev repo ctuning@mlcommons-ck. If you are using mlcommons@ck, you may need to remove it and pull our development version to test it. You may also need to clean the CM cache:

cm rm repo mlcommons@ck
cm pull repo ctuning@mlcommons-ck
cm rm cache -f
cmr "app mlcommons mlperf inference cpp"

Can you please try it and tell me if it works?

I created a PR from ctuning@mlcommons-ck to mlcommon@ck - it should be available in the stable repo soon ...

Thanks!!!

Hi @gfursin, the script is executing fine. I've cleared the CM cache and pulled the mlcommons@ck repo. Thank you for responding so quickly and fixing the problem.

Super! Glad that it worked! And thank you for your feedback - CM is a collaborative effort to make sure that our automation recipes work fine across different (and particularly newer) environments - your feedback helps us improve CM!
