The background color is currently not correct: Chars with a non-default foreground get the correct terminal background. Others get the Textual background colors.

Solution:

• Apply background color always.
• In a next step, give option to apply Textual background by color name, e.g. background or surface

When starting the Terminal focused, the emulator will have the default width/height being set by ncol/nrow. If you do not set the focus or set_focus(None) when starting the terminal, it will be at the full width.

It could be nice to support Windows, maybe using pywinpty?

I don't know, if it is a use case, but running bash inside textual-terminal and open another (e.g. the example again) Textual app, it looks strange: like black-white, scrollbar is misplaced.

Rich is reporting, that brightwhite is not a valid color, which should not be the case. Isn't Textual using Rich colors?

Could be a general color detection problem.

Step to reproduce:

• Run the example
• Inside Terminal 2 (bash) navigate to the textual-terminal dir
• Run the example inside Terminal 2 again
