As a side note, it would also be useful if we could configure the retryingTransport to use LinearBackoff. In our case, we're making a lot of API requests from other services, so using the exponential backoff actually makes things harder for us.

+1 Please also consider adding RandomExpBackoff which will add randomness to the next sleep time.

We now have a dozen of images built simultaneously and sometimes there are failures due to packers trying to do the same thing and backoff with the same timeouts.
