dotfiles's Introduction

Hi there! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I like building things that make developers more productive. I'm currently working on developer productivity at The New York Times. Before that I built web apps, developer tooling, and deployment automation at World Wide Technology. Some things I've made that you might find useful:

  • Flexbox Playground - a web app for visually building flexbox layouts. It generates all the markup and styles you need to implement that layout.
  • Box Shadow Generator - a web app for generating box-shadows. It generates the CSS needed to implement the shadow.
  • Color Conversion CLI - easily convert between different color formats (including transparent values) from the command line.
  • Electron Highlighter theme - I made a color theme that you can use in a bunch of different applications. I like it. Maybe you will too.

A little more about me:

  • ๐ŸŒฑ Iโ€™m currently learning: all sorts of dev-ops stuff
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Ask me about: dotfiles, Vue, JavaScript, CSS, keyboard shortcuts, Vim
  • ๐Ÿ“ซ How to reach me: Email, Mastodon, Contact Form

dotfiles's Issues

Install script URL

Script execution in README still has the old /zsh repo URL instead of /dotfiles

Git aliases

Should they go into the gitconfig? I like not having to type a space, so I'm not sure on this one. For example, gbc would become g bc and I don't know if I like that. Something to think about. I do like the idea of keeping Git aliases inside the .gitconfig though.

Update README

The URL for the install script still points to mmcbride1007/zsh

Add Atom configs

Add Atom configurations to this repo. Will need to find a way to automate that. Also probably should install Atom (and Atom Beta?) as part of the setup script.

Install vs update scripts

Probably some room for improvement here. Updating is done by cloning the repo, so all files get updated. That certainly works but there may be some room for an update script similar to the setup script to ensure everything stays synced up. But maybe not, cloning might be all that's needed.
