we use exponential coordinates simply because it's required by the direct visual odometry algorithm we used. In fact, small angle approximation derived from exponential coordinates is what people commonly used in bundle adjustment, visual odometry, etc.
So, we use exponential coordinates aside from others simply due to it's convenience to incorporate a direct visual odometry module, thereby I've no idea whether using Euler angle or any other representation has effect on the posenet prediction.
