Visual Studio 2017 Keynote Demo Scripts

This repo has simplified versions of keynote demo scripts and access to multiple repos we used during the keynote. Individual feature demos are targeted towards developers. Each demo explains the feature and the value prop of the feature in detail.

Note - All of the Visual Studio Enterprise features and Xamarin demos are based on the BikeSharing360 demo application available at: from here.

visualstudio2017launch_keynotedemos's Issues

The value of deployment parameter 'webSiteName' is null

I think someone might have fiddled with the deployment template. I am getting this error when releasing.
The value of deployment parameter 'webSiteName' is null. Please specify the value or use the parameter reference.

Installing docker on Surface Pro 4

I'm trying to follow the instructions to get Docker to install on my Surface Pro 4, but I consistently get the message that Virtualization is not enabled, but when I look at the process monitor it shows virtualization is enabled. Is there a known issue with running docker on the Surface? Note that I was able to install it on a Lenovo machine as a backup.

Deployment failed on Azure

The deployment on Azure always fail because "Website with given name Bikeshare360D already exists."

If someone can indicate me how to avoid that problem, it would be very great. Have a nice day.

VS2017 v15.7.1 - Standard WebApp template fails when published to Azure

I built a standard ASP.NET 2.0 MVC WebApp using the template from VS2017 v15.7.1. I made no changes before build and test on localhost - no problems. However, when same app is published to Azure it fails.

FIX: Downgrade the version number of Microsoft.AspNetCore.All before release - see image.

VS2017 v15.7.1 - Build | Publish creates different assembly to Build | Rebuild Solution

I built a ASP.NET Core 2.0 MVC WebApp using VS2017 v15.7.1.

  • I set the version number in the Project settings (package section) as 1.1.1.0

  • I selected Build | Configuration - Release

  • I did Build | Clean followed by Build | Rebuild Solution.

When I looked at the build product .DLL in my bin/release/netcoreapp2.0 folder as expected it had product number 1.1.1 and file version 1.1.1.0. Next I performed

  • Build | Publish

Then when I looked at the build product .DLL in my bin/release/netcoreapp2.0 folder it had product number and file version of 1.1.0 and 1.1.0.3. It seems Build | Publish creates a different assembly to Build | Rebuild Solution. This behaviour is unacceptable as I need to publish the same file that I built and tested on localhost.
