attested-fetch's Introduction

attested-fetch

An experimental tool for fetching content from an HTTPS URL within an SGX enclave. The output is a JSON file containing SGX evidence and the HTTPS response.

Getting started

./build.sh
./test.sh

Run manually:

dist/afetch dist/libafetch.enclave.so out.json https://github.com nonce42

Virtual mode

In addition to the normal mode of usage described above, attested fetch may be used in a "virtual mode". In this mode, no SGX enclave is used. This can be useful for development, but provides no verifiable security guarantees about its output.

Virtual mode can be enabled by setting the PLATFORM variable:

export PLATFORM=virtual
./build.sh
./test.sh

attested-fetch's Issues

Add CI

This requires SGX-capable agents. This likely means using Azure Pipelines and a custom pool like the CCF project does.

Return network and HTTP errors in attested result

Currently, any non-2xx response or network error leads to the process exiting without producing an attested result, and with the error printed to stderr. Sometimes it is useful to return those errors as part of the attested result.

To do that, I propose the following changes:
