Nice app here. Easy to use and effective. I'm trying to write an applescript file that changes preferences basically from "0" to "65872." And back and forth depending on if I'm using a specific keyboard or not.
I'm having difficulty figuring out how to "activate" one or the other.
By echoing the desired pref, I got it to change the System Preferences but I want an immediate effect by "activating" it now.
do shell script "echo 0 > /Library/StartupItems/DoubleCommand/temp; mv /Library/StartupItems/DoubleCommand/temp /Library/StartupItems/DoubleCommand/DoubleCommand.pref" with administrator privileges
Running the other files in the StartupItems folder don't seem to activate anything immediately. Any other ideas?
I was looking at the screen shot, and I didn't see an option to make the ctrl key act like the fn key? Is there any such feature? I'd like to ultimately swap my fn and ctrl keys.
As a left-handed person, using shift+del/ctrl+ins/shift+ins to cut, copy and paste is invaluable and sorely missed on the mac. Having the option to enable this would mean the world for many of us!
I would LOVE IT!!!....if the ESC key could be programmed to be the DELETE key.
I own a small radio production studio and I've used Adobe Audition for PC for years...back when it was Cool Edit Pro. I've used the ESC key as a hotkey to delete while editing for over 12 years. I recently began the transition from PC to Mac...it's cool so far. I bought Adobe Audition for Mac and for some reason, there's NO option to set the ESC key to DELETE in the hotkey section.
It would be a HUGE BLESSING to me and my staff if this feature could be added!!!
When I assign the right option key as the forward delete, and then hibernate my laptop by closing the lid, when it reaches full hibernation and I return (open lid), the key remapping stops and nothing I do inside the DoubleCommand control panel fixes it.
This problem only occurs on Mavericks. I did a fresh re-install of DC on it, using the latest download from SourceForge. This problem never occurred on Snow Leopard.
Version DoubleCommand-1.7.dmg
The remapped keys no longer work when returning from sleep on OS X Mavericks. The configuration seems OK in DoubleCommand Preferences, and ActiveSettings shows the correct value, but the keys no longer work.
Workarounds include restarting the computer or reinstalling DoubleCommand.
need restart doublecommand after changing windows environment so new terminal can recognize PATH variable
Will this ever happen? Any plans?
Asking because Karabiner has issues with sleep/wakeup kernel panic...
A simple fn/ctrl switch would be amazing.
Thanks!
Title sums it up. Basically, PC style delete from explorer.
Thanks for a great piece of software!
"fn key acts as a Control key" supported for apple a1242 or a1243? I don't have mac, so I can't check that myself.
I want to set a separate config for the built in laptop keyboard and the full external keyboard.
Home/End
better to be mapped to Ctrl+A/E
since Cmd+Left/Right
is sometimes have unforeseen consequences on some websites (history Back/Forward)
For most development tools on Windows, Home key actually goes to the first non-white character on the line. The current option in DoubleCommand goes to the beginning of line even if it's a tab (or any other white space character).
DoubleCommand 1.7
MBP with OS X 10.9
I configure DoubleCommand such that the right Option key acts as a Control key. That's the only key I change. It initially works but after a while stops working. I suspect it happens when the computer sleeps and reawakens. I'll try to verify that.
System :
Macbook Pro 17" 2010
OSX 10.7 Lion
Apple Keyboard French layout (with numpad)
Could this be added as an option? (I haven't been able to find it so far)
Hi. I think this makes a lot of sense to do this, since I can't use the Option key as an enter key because I've swapped the Option and Control keys so I'm able to use one hand for navigating multiple desktops, etc. with Mission Control.
So, it woudl be great to still have a one-key enter key on the right side (as the right Command key) to make using Excel and Accouting software easier.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
My wife installed DoubleCommand this morning, and for whatever reason her keyboard is now completely non-functional. The uninstall instructions ask her to run a command in the terminal app, but this is quite hard without a keyboard. :-/ Navigating to the StartupItems folder via the finder is possible, but trying to remove the DoubleCommand entry there leads to a password prompt (again, no keyboard).
It seems sensible for something that intercepts the keyboard at a fairly low level to provide a shutdown switch that doesn't involve the keyboard.
Thanks,
Will
With the caps lock key set to act as the delete key, it only deletes a character when the lock goes from on to off. So you have to double press the key to perform a delete.
would be very useful for VIM users
I have a Windows keyboard with one 'Windows' key on the left of the spacebar which I have assigned as the 'option' key.
I don't have an 'Windows' key on the right. So far the only key on the right of the spacebar that could be an 'Option' key is the 'Context Menu' key.
I'd love to have an easy way to switch quickly between Keyboard profiles.
Was using KeyRemap4MacBook previously. Disabled all of it's options to prevent any potential conflict. DoubleCommand installed fine, but then completely disabled the keyboard. Switching to the guest user, rebooting, and disabling all DoubleCommand options from the PrefPane made no difference. I had to use the Mac Keyboard Viewer with the mouse to search the web for a solution and mouse-type them into a terminal in order to uninstall, as not a single key on the physical keyboard was enabled. I was not able to determine if the conflict was with KeyRemap4MacBook.
think its possible to allow mapping an Eject key with the double command kext?
I'm using a PC "gaming" keyboard with a zillion extra keys and I'd like to make one of them work as Eject. FYI, it's for the Cntrl+Shift+Eject combo which sleeps all displays.
DoubleCommand is not working for me on Mavericks.
I really miss it and hope that it can be patched.
Thanks!
