I hummed and hawwed about it but I do believe it's easiest to break the old behavior in favor of the new state directory one.
It now simply defaults to the new directory and will lose the old history as a consequence if that one also made use of the default directory. To fix that simply copy the history file from ~/.cache/bemoji-history.txt
to ~/.local/state/bemoji-history.txt
and everything will be as before.
The reason I am doing so is that it will prevent a lot of headache in the future - both on my and the user side.
If we kept the cache directory check, we would have to define a precedence between the directories,
checked not just for directory but files existing and acted along a strangely branching set of options. This is cleaner and will only create a hassle once.
