something like nogo web start should start a local web service that you can view and potentially edit notes

I keep my notes synced across different machines via git. It would be nice to have a nogo sync command that would automatically commit to git, pull from upstream and push to git. Bonus points for customized commit messages based on the files that were edited.

The interface that displays notes, topics etc. can definitely be improved upon. It might be worth spending some time experimenting with better ways to display that information in different formats.

It would be neat to have a nogo init command that would create the notes directory, ask you if you use git and perhaps initialize it as a git repo, ask you what the remote url is, etc.

A lot of nogo's functionality is just parsing directories that follow a very structured format. Perhaps write some unit tests that ensure that all nogo operations work on a test directory (in /tmp or something).

Perhaps $NOGODIR or something. This should fall back to a default if it's not there with an appropriate order of precedence.

The readme's "examples" section isn't that great. It would benefit from some love.

nogo makes use of the filesystem for storing it's notes. Implementing something like python's os.path.join instead of just using Go's fmt.Sprintf to join paths in order to be more resilient would be useful.

nogo basically won't work if $EDITOR isn't set. Perhaps add a print statement that bugs users if they haven't set $EDITOR and perhaps default to using vim if it's not set.
