Probably not. This project is focused on styling the existing Mapbox Streets vector tiles, not creating a vector tiles source from scratch. For an example of a TM2 source project querying from a PostGIS database see https://github.com/mapbox/natural-earth-tm2

If someone else is also interested in this: I started working on a MapBox Studio source for this style, that can be used with local OSM data. It is still incomplete, but it's a start. :)
