Some extensions which might be useful:

• Allow online editing of book note files.
• Adapt the dialog style.

After filtering the data, display the number of book notes which are being displayed.

Make the dialog displaying the content scrollable.

Improve user experience:

• Sidebar on the left should be responsive (in fact, the whole site should be)
• When selecting filters, they should be displayed on top of the results via badges. There should also be an option to reset all filters.
• Add localstorage support to keep track of selected options. Clean up JavaScript code as well.

Add a README.md in the data folder to explain how markdown documents are expected to be structured by the parser.

Add some kind of fallback cover in case there are files without a corresponding cover. (Acting as a placeholder to keep the layout in shape).

Use Travis CI to generate PHPDoc.

Fill README.md with content. Add a badge for the license.

Until now, it is is just a login-like thing without content.

Add some content, users, ...

Optimize the book note overview. Currently, there is only the cover with the title of a book. Add the date when the book was read the last time and the type (e.g. ebook or paperback). Maybe add even the categories to which the book belongs (but keep in mind, there might be many of those; thus a limit could make sense).

Add a Nonce to logins.
