dev-website's Issues

Links not clickable on StartDeveloping/Platform page

Steps to reproduce

  • Go to homepage https://hub.safedev.org/

default containers: is '_pictures' valid?

I’ve just tested the default private container ‘_documents’ successfully: compare safe://to-do and safe://docs.to-do.
I’ve changed the 2 ‘_public’ instances by ‘_documents’, the appInfo id and name compared to here. I’ve no doubt the other private default containers will work the same way, but here on hub.safedev.org I see container ‘_pictures’ mentioned, which I don’t find in the source code of safe_client_libs. That is something to check @dgeddes: remove _pictures from the website or add to the code?

Site doesn't load on IE11

Old tech yeah so not a priority, but might be a simple react fix to get the site at the very least displaying.
@shankar2105 managed to solve a similar issue with safenetwork.tech.

Platforms - Android and .NET pages slightly different widths on mobile, causes issue with bottom hamburger menu

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to hub.safedev.org on a mobile device (tested on physical Pixel 2, Huawei P Smary, emulator Pixel 2, Nexus 6).
  2. Navigate to Platforms page.
  3. Select each of the five platforms listed.

Expected:
Screen is correct width and lower right hamburger menu (which replaces side menu from desktop version) is displayed:
image
Actual:
For the Android page, the screen is wider than displayed so hamburger menu is not initially visible:
image
If user scrolls the screen across and down the hamburger menu can be found but it is not immediately obvious this is possible:
image
For the .NET screen the hamburger menu can be seen on some devices (both emulated devices and physical Pixel) but the screen does scroll slightly horizontally so the width is not completely correct:

However, on the Huawei phone and a smaller screen emulator, the same issue occurs as above - the hamburger menu is not visible unless user scrolls down and across:

NodeJS Quick Start - newbie experience - Python pre-req on Windows?

Hi, just blindly following the "Start Developing" NodeJS instructions, I encountered an error - looks like Python should perhaps be listed as a pre-req for developing on Windows 10?

When I installed Python 2.7.14 - the above error disappeared. Perhaps also worth listing the minimum versions for each pre-req?

Platforms - two menus displayed on screen.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch hub.safedev.org, go to platforms page.
  2. Resize browser window (smaller) so that navbar collapses to hamburger menu and sidemenu also collapses to a hamburger menu in bottom RHS.
  3. Click on both hamburger icons.

Expected:
TBC
Actual:
Both menus are displayed, one top of another:

Content as Markdown

Is there a reason to not format the content as Markdown/CommonMark? This would make editing much easier. You could also use inline html for "fancy" things.

edit1: As you'r using react this wouldn't work with inline html and the react-markdown. But you could add an additional build step that would convert markdown files to react components, similar to what you'r doing right now with the hardcoded links to the content "variables" but automagically.

Steps to reproduce:

  2. Go to platforms page.
  3. Either launch in mobile browser or resize desktop browser so menus collapse to hamburger menus.
  4. Click bottom RHS hamburger menu:

  5. Scroll the page downwards.

Expected:
