Currently you are restricted to downloading form a certain provider. This creates a dependency to that specific provider to be able to download.

Solution

Add an option to use a custom downloader.

Additional context

In my specific case, I have a downloader for Spotify. I have registered it in Windows to start using a custom protocol. This downloader would be able to launch the protocol and pass in necessary variables such as the title, the channel or the video id.

I have tried various download tools for youtube, and this one is the best. It's clean, simple, and no-nonsense. An unobtrusive arrow in the player works with just a click. Thank you!

Hello, I have two feature requests. Is it possible to add a quality picker? And it would be cool to download audio only. This could be added in the quality chooser.

unable to directly download

I don't know why it's not working for me anymore, when it used to work.
It's possible that something else is interfering with it, I haven't done much testing. I am on linux, using a chrome based browser and see the download button, but I can't download properly. For example, on this random video, I am able to download an mp4, but an about:blank page opens up and there is no possiblity to download an mp3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKYO94cJzNg. Then, on another link to music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prge5lp5hQc I can neither download and mp4 nor a mp3. Then at https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=prge5lp5hQc mostly, I don't have a download arrow, but when I do I can't download anything and have a script error message telling me to wait, but that does nothing. 😥

Hello, the icon for downloading is not showing up in the Player when watching a video in Theater Mode, but it works fine in regular mode.

Please consider fixing the issue and making the script work with YouTube's new 2024 UI Update.

The Script is very good, and the download icon is properly placed and its working good. But the Notify popup is not able to close and it is loaded in the right handside top corner of the browser.

Pl. help, to get the notify popup to close in some internal of time.

When typing in the search, comments, or any other textbox on YouTube, the settings menu opens. This happens when trying to search for videos or write a comment.

I don't care what version it is, I don't want to see any notifications ever, I find it annoying, how can I shut them down forever?
