For game engines, you often need to 'pack' 4 channels into 1 texture (Roughness, Metallic, Height information, etc..)

This tool could be very useful for that operation: if you can just drag the various source images and create the output.

Any change the tool can be developed to allow this?

Could happen through a pop-up showing supported file formats. If you attempt to load a file with a supported file ending, but it still can't be loaded, show a more detailed description of what is and what isn't supported in that specific format so the user can fix it.

Should be available under the file menu, and via a shortcut, don't know what shortcut that should be yet though.

Pressing the button will copy the command that will be run to create the final image to the clipboard, this could be useful for debugging or for users who want to see what's going on under the hood.

During first startup directly from my windows downloads folder it would it would take some while, then a cmd-window showed up, no gui though. Used task managed to close the channel_shuffle.exe(I think it was?). Then it reappeared along with the GUI interface. I tried closing it a few times but reappeared a few more times. Finally got it closed.

Moved the whole extracted folder to c:/ and it worked better. Moving it back to the downloads folder reproduces this weird behaviour. It doesn't show the GUI but rather just the CMD-window and keeps closing and reopening itself? Two instances of "channel_shuffle.exe" seem to show up in my task manager.

Anyways, when running it from C:/ it shows up fine. Loads images fine and lets me swizzle them around with preview windows working correctly. However the drag-drop to save doesn't seem to work properly for me. It creates an "untitled.tga", but it's all black. Disabled both my AV and FW software and made sure to run the application as admin but to no success. I'm running Win7 64bit.

If you try to load an .exe file for instance, that file will be copied to the temp directory (%temp%/channel_shuffle) even though it should see that it's not going to work in the first place because doesn't have a supported file ending.

The interface elements are already there (they get hidden in mainwindow.cpp). CLI version has support for this using -width x -height y.

There will be two greyed out text boxes showing the size that the output image will take (which is the size of the largest input image), and a button next to it with a "resize" icon on it. If the user toggles the resize icon by clicking it, the text boxes are no longer greyed out, and they can edit the values that then will be sent to the CLI when the final image is generated. If the user presses the button again, the text boxes get grayed out again and returns to the size of the largest input image.

Right now there is a long list of files to remove on load. Instead it should go through the folder and remove all files to make sure it's clean.

Each file in the temp directory (%temp%/channel_shuffle) and the directory itself should be removed when the application is closed as to not litter the users temp folder with unnecessary files.
