If I am not wrong, you can have only one snapshot per test? If that's the case, it might be worthwhile to update the docs and reflect this.

Snapshot Assertion file uses protected instead of public methods making it impossible to apply it on the actor, instead of directly on the test.

Using actor instead of test case allows to re-use snapshot assertions.

EDIT:

It is possible to override trait function's visibility, e.g.

use SnapshotAssertions {
        assertMatchesHtmlSnapshot as public;
    }

but I guess having these methods as public in the first place leads to less (verbose) code.
