lost-nds-tv's Issues

IPS File not patching correctly

Following the instructions on the page, I dumped my firmware and loaded into nocashgba to ensure the base firmware works [it does]. Then I load Lunar IPS and select Apply IPS patch, first selecting the ndstvout-patch.ips then the firmware I just dumped. Afterward, I try to reload the firmware in nocashgba, and I get Undefined opcode - with no debug vector defined. If I'm doing something wrong please let me know. I'm getting a bin file titled FW696183.bin when I dump it. In the tutorial I am following, the author gets a file titled FWBAD959.BIN. Does this have anything to do with my issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Gerber Files missing drill file?

Hello,

Please forgive me as I'm new to all of this. I'm not worried about the soldering but I want to get the PCB made and the drill file appears to be missing from the archive. Is a drill file available? Should I proceed without it?

Thank you in advance!

2-layer PCB version

Hi. I am interested in ordering the PCB through a service like OSHPark or JLCPCB.

I noticed that the price is higher than other PCBs because gerbers from this project contain 4 layers. Is it really necessary to use 4 layers instead of 2?

Cheers and thank you for publishing all this content!

Top Screen With yellow color, after New firmware was installed!

Hello, as the title describe, my only question is if this is okay, or maybe i did something wrong applying the patch or on another step, i tried the firmware on No$GBA but, with bios from internet, and it works well, but with the dumped bios from the console, it shows an error message, thats all the strange things i noticed, Thank you for any respones.! Great job with the project i'm amazed with the results!

Requiring a working top screen?

Hello, I've tried dumping my firmware using v8flashme and DSBFdump, and I haven't gotten it to work. My top screen is already broken, so I'm not sure if I need a working one to properly dump the firmware. If I can still dump it even with a broken top screen, I may have installed the files incorrectly. I tried both having the v8flashme and DSBF dump on the root of the SD card with nothing else, as well as including the R4 files for the menus and such.

[FEATURE REQUEST] Show both screens side by side, or on top of each other, or just have seperate RCA connections for both screens? Either three would be fine, to be honest, I don't really need all three for what I am using this for.

Love this project, but the only feature that's not here yet that I need is the one I mentioned in the title because I want this on a LCD. Touchscreen I'm not asking for just yet, but I have been researching the touchscreen signals on and off, and I even know the exact spot they are on the board. Contact me at [email protected] if you want to discuss the touchscreen stuff further haha.

Honestly I'd go for either three of the options, but is it even possible though?

Vertical screen games and microphone

Hi. Just wondering if there could be a way to implement rotating/flipping the output (using a switch in the PCB or something) so games like Rhythm Paradise (Rhythm Heaven) or Brain Age could be correctly shown without physically rotating the monitor.

EDIT: also, microphone couldn't be used either with current mod, affecting Brain Age too. Could that be also a future feature?

Digital to digital output?

Reading over your description here:

https://lostnintendohistory.github.io/DS-TV-OUT.html

"The final, production-ready board contains a DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) which turns the 10 bits digital signal at 16.7 MHz provided by the DS Lite into a proper analogue signal. This signal then goes through an operational amplifier and it’s ready to be delivered to your nearest TV trough composite video."

If I am reading this correctly, wouldn't it be possible to output this via DVI or DisplayPort? I may be misunderstanding, and that may require RGB encoded data for conversion, whereas this bitstream may just be the single CVBS - but somewhere in the back of my brain, I would swear either DVI or DisplayPort can handle that. I am going to go do some digging - but that would obviously require fiddling with the bitstream on the fly to make it work, but every little bit of help we can give the signal, the better.

/firmwares not found

After Patching the dslite firmware in lunarips and reinserting the ds flash cart, fwManager gives the notification " /firmwares " not found. I have placed the patched FWBAD file in a folder on the root of the SD Card called "firmwares" any input would be greatly appreciated.

[Feature Request] Picture in Picture on top screen

Hi, i'm using this mod mainly for streaming purposes as I use it as an alternative for a capture card, it would be super useful to be able to display the picture in picture mode on the top screen so I don't need to constantly change between the two screens every time I want to show something, I don't know if that's possible but from a software perspective, I don't see why it wouldn't be. Thanks for reading :)
