The asynchronous connection pool implementation should provide support for query timeout. Perhaps by providing a long timeoutMillis method parameter.

Prepared statement implementation currently just supports of adding data of string values, it should support for adding binary data as well. libpq supports both data types for parameters included in prepared statements.

The connection pool implementation (PQCP) must provide an internal mechanism to check status checking of connections pooled and reset them in case of bad connection status.

Check for enhancement possibilities in transaction block's status checking; Maybe after begin methods called or during command/query running.
