cloudplatforms's Issues

How is sensor data stored

RE: Cloud Platform Capabilities Chart - something to add perhaps
What does the data storage look like? How would you handle 10 different sensors (same or different types- temp, leak, etc) filtering through a single edge node device, each delivering several common, several unique telemetry items of interest, lets say total of 5 telemetry items?

  • Do you implement a "normal" data base where we define a unique key, say sensor id, and the usual columns to store the telemetry items, 5 in our example.

Then for the widget creation, can I associate the widget to a particular sensor id, then also associate the telemetry items of interest to that same widget. (So my choice might be one of 10 sensors, then one of 5 telemetry items)

  • Or must we define a unique column for each sensorId/telemetry item combination such that our defined column count is more or less (10 sensors# * 5 items == 50)

Then when creating a widget I can only choose one of the sensor#/dataItem combinations? (one of 50 in this example)?

This is functionality I'm looking for in a cloud platform.
