I submitted a PR but maybe there's a different way to allow people in instances that aren't in the instances.txt list to use this extension with their home instances? You're supposed to be able to click the extension button in Chrome and add the site you're visiting, but that's grayed out for this extension, which says "These extensions don't need to see and change information on this site."

similar to simplify gmail, it would be ideal to be able to globally and per site quickly toggle the extension off from the toolbar.

From the screenshots in the addon page, it seems like this should collapse down into a pencil - however it's always visible like this

you can type in the URL but local (and federated) are missing from nav (Local is arguably the reason you'd go to a remote instance)
