oled-linux's Issues

Clarification needed on i3 in README

The installation section says "loads oled-linux and i3", but the dependencies section makes no mention of i3 as a dependency. Is there a dependency? If not, why include a tiling window manager in the setup instructions?

Add supporter/backer/sponsors

I love my Lenovo OLED running on arch for years. Never could entirely dissolve this brightness problems.

And, I am probably not the only one wanting to support your work and appreciate this effort appropriately. Thanks again! Great work <3

Very sluggish on Kubuntu 22.04

Script seems to work fine, but when it's running, the mouse and parts of the UI become a bit sluggish until it's terminated.

Disable auto-display darkening

hello, is there a way to disable the display brightness turning auto off?
I do not think is a system settings since without this script running the display keeps awake for around 15min
thanks

How to get this to work in KDE

Firstly thank you so much for making this software.
I am having issues getting it to work on:

  • Dell XPS 7590 (OLED screen)
  • Kubuntu 20.04

I am confused about which file to add the following lines from the documentation.
I am using KDE as the Desktop Environment/Window Manager and not i3. I don't know which file to add this to that will

be invoked before your window manager is started.

<path-to>/oled-linux/get-current-location.sh & # optional, for night-light-geolocation
<paht-to>/oled-linux/watch-location.sh & # optional, for night-light-geolocation
<path-to>/oled-linux/run-set-day-night.sh & # optional, for night-light
<path-to>/oled-linux/oled-linux.sh &
exec i3

I have attempted creating a file called:
~/.xinitrc
I put the above lines in (with correct paths) and rebooted but it doesn't work.

Any help in troubleshooting this would be super helpful.
Thank you.

8% idle cpu usage

I don't have an OLED screen, but my backlight does not work. This script helps make it easier for me to change my brightness using xrandr, but 8% idle cpu usage seems a bit high. It's even higher than Firefox idling with 11 tabs open. What's causing it and can we reduce this somehow? I'm not using redshift. I turned that off in the config and did not load the optional scripts.

Discord link is broken

Clicking on the link to discord at the bottom of the readme results in an "Invalid Invite" error message.

How to set night light manually?

I prefer to turn on night light manually. I can't find the location of the file pipe to write to it, but in any case, oled-linux will probably overwrite my changes. So can night light start and end times be specified in the conf file? I prefer night light color most of the time, hence the question.
