This is a very cool project proposal, Dana. I think most of this is well within your ability to implement, but I would like to make a few suggestions:

1. At the end of phase 2, users can create and view event pages (which pretty much just have titles). There aren't any real changes to this view until Phase 5, when you add photos. I'm a little bit nervous about leaving the gallery functionality to the end of your project, as I think this will earn you the most points with recruiters. I would strongly encourage you to move the gallery feature (with browser photo upload) to phase 3, and leave SMS photo upload for the very end.
2. Will posts have text bodies? Will users be able to comment on posts? These features might strengthen the social aspects of your app.
3. Where will you be hosting your uploaded photos? Filepicker has been the easiest to use in our experience.

I might actually keep events and posts in a separate phase. Mainly because events is presumably going to be mostly done with rails/backbone whereas posts might include more twillio api stuff
