Due to the potentially long cable lengths people may use, induced noise on the power supply and data/control lines may cause occasional data corruption on the display.

To assist in mitigation adding a 1uF electrolytic and 0.2uF monolithic across the supply pins feeding the display may be beneficial.
Adding space.for these on the PCB is desirable.

If the above isn't adequate doing one or more of the following may have further benefit.

• add the same pair of capacitors at the display it's self
• fit 5pF to 50pF between each data/control pin and ground at the breakout board
• fit 5pF to 50pF between each data/control pin and ground at the display
