Kotlin WasmJS browser API

A Kotlin library for working with browser declarations in WasmJs.

This library contains is a replacement for browser declarations, which planned to be removed from Kotlin WasmJS standard library.

See Using in your projects for the instructions how to setup a dependency in your project.

Status

This library is still in work-in-progress state. Which means that it is not published into public repository and not yet intended to use by end user.

Requirements

Is required to use:

  • Kotlin 1.9.23 or newer

Using in your projects

Note that the library is experimental, and the API is subject to change.

The library is compatible with the Kotlin Standard Library not lower than 1.9.23.

Gradle

  • Add the Maven Central repository if it is not already there:
repositories {
    mavenCentral()
}
  • In multiplatform projects, add a dependency to the commonMain source set dependencies
kotlin {
    sourceSets {
        commonMain {
             dependencies {
                 implementation("org.jetbrains.kotlinx:kotlinx-browser:0.1")
             }
        }
    }
}

Building

The project requires Kotlin 1.9.23 to build and to run tests.

After that, the project can be opened in IDEA and/or built with Gradle.

To build and run tests, execute:

./gradlew build

kotlinx-browser's Issues

Is this project still relevant?

Given the absence of updates for years, it looks like the browser APIs are in the stdlib and not brought by this module anymore.

Is this the case? If yes, maybe this project should be archived?

I'm trying to figure out why the dom package is not found in my project, and I struggle to find information about which of dom.html or org.w3c.html or kotlinx.browser or other packages I am supposed to use. This project adds to the confusion.

Missing methods in ArrayBufferView

Following methods are missing from Uint8Array (and other ArrayBufferView implementations for that matter):

fun slice(begin: Int, end: Int): Uint8Array
fun subarray(begin: Int, end: Int): Uint8Array
fun reverse(): Uint8Array

// following signature yet to figure out
fun entries(): IterableIterator<dynamic /* JsTuple<Number, Number> */>
fun keys(): IterableIterator<Number>
fun values(): IterableIterator<Number>

Missing Event.persist()

Although an easy work around van be provided, it's nice if this can be incorporated in the defined external Event class
