Thanks for this nifty extension! I'm looking forward to further improvements in the future.
I am noticing that the extension cannot make use of inverted units.
For example "My energy consumption is 5 kWh/mile" can be converted to "3.1 kWh/km".
Any unit with the pattern of foo/murkan could be converted to foo/metric.
Example: 15,000 lbs
Maybe simple copy the text from the firefox addon page? And specify the license in the github repo.
Hello,
The extension is working great, but maybe you could add an option to convert everything in the webpage automatically, and maybe underline it and show the original version when hovering ?
Thanks a lot
Muricans! use such units as "miles per hour"/"mph" which should be converted to proper km/h.
Some ideas for additional conversions.
Grampa says in "A Star is Burns" that "The metric system is the tool of the devil",
and that his car gets "40 rods to the hogshead, and that's the way [he] likes it,"
which is about 0.00198413 miles per gallon, or about 10.48 feet per gallon
(118 547.97 l/100 km, or about 119 m³/100 km).
Grampa makes the comment as part of his explanation as to why it would
be too confusing to adopt the metric system.
Viewing a .pdf in Firefox PDF viewer:
Conversion does work, but isn't directly visible. The highlighted spans (and the tooltips) are visible, but the actual text doesn't change. Which is probably good in context of PDF to not disturb the layout.
Maybe also show the converted values in the tooltip:
"750 miles = 1207.01 km"
Right now the convert entry is always visible in the context menu. Ideally it should only appear when:
These should be converted to metric ton/tonne.
The addon cannot handle sentences such as "72 more feet added in the 1600's during a rebuild process". I would be nice if the addon could handle adverbs such as "more"/"less"/"fewer" etc.
Sometimes Americans write 26"
or 26”
when they mean 26 in
. Sometimes using two single quotes instead of the double ones.
Similarly, single quotes (fancy and not fancy) refer to feet, e.g. 5'
.
Lastly, you can write e.g. 5'2"
("five-foot-two") and variations when referring to someones height.
Thanks!
On this page, the following text appears:
Below 87.8°F, a 12 gram CO2 cartridge contains a mixture of liquid and gaseous CO2 in equilibrium.
This addon somehow converts the '2' in 'CO2' to centimeters?
Could consider making a button that when clicked converts all the text to the metric counterpart?
