truenas-core-tailscale-jail's Issues

error while setting up tailscale

Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue... FreeBSD repository is up to date. All repositories are up to date. Checking integrity... done (0 conflicting) The most recent versions of packages are already installed tailscaled enabled in /etc/rc.conffailed failed to connect to local tailscaled process (is it running?); got: Failed to connect to local Tailsclae daemon for /localapi/v0/status; not running? Error: dial unix /var/run/tailscale/tailscaled.sock: connect: no such file or directory

is is what the console said

"Missing name for redirect"

I followed all the directions but when I got to setup auth key, I copy pasted my key in the <> with only the key inside but after I hit enter it kept saying "Missing name for redirect" and I don't know why.

ipv6 issue - documentation update

because I disabled ipv6 at the router level I had to apply one change:

  • recent version of tailscale enforces a change in /etc/rc.conf - set manually: ipv6_activate_all_interfaces="NO" (without it I am losing the internet connection)
It could make sense to set the mac address when we create the jail so it can be added at the DHCP server side.
The expiration of the key (for the authentification: one day?) and for the machines (no limit) could be added?

Can not connect to truenas webgui

this is probably something stupid I am overlooking but, I can ping out from the host shell of TrueNas to other devices on my tailscale network, but when I try to connect to the webgui from outside I get an instant connection refused. No clue as to why.

restart required before step 16

Thanks for the guide, this (eventually) worked perfectly for me, However, I had to restart my TrueNAS host system before the webui and smb would work properly. I'm not sure exactly which step needs the restart (my guess is step 14/15), but maybe it's worth adding a note before or in step 16 that A restart of the host system may be required.

"failed to connect to local tailscaled process"

After running ./setup-tailscale.sh I get the error:

failed to connect to local tailscaled process (is it running?); got: Failed to
connect to local Tailscale daemon for /localapi/v0/status; not running?
Error: dial unix /var/run/tailscale/tailscaled.sock: connect: no such file or
directory

Tailscale is installed (I can call tailscale). But even when I to 'tailscale status' i get the same error message.

Any help is appreciated.
