Home-Panel

A Web application to control all of my IoT devices from Home-IoT repository.

Building

$ git clone https://github.com/KNaiskes/Home-Panel
$ cd Home-Panel
$ go get -d ./...
$ go install

Install Mosquitto

Debian based distros

$ sudo apt-get install mosquitto mosquitto-clients

Arch

$ sudo pacman -S mosquitto

Configure Mosquitto

Append /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf

sudo vim /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf
allow_anonymous false
password_file /etc/mosquitto/pwfile
listener 1883

Generate a new username and password

sudo mosquitto_passwd -c /etc/mosquitto/pwfile username
sudo systemctl restart mosquitto

Add username and password to config file of the project

Open config.json and add your username and password in the appropriate fields

"mqtt_password": "myPassword"

Do not add device with same display name and topic

When adding a new device it is already checked if there is already a device with the same name but it should also check the display name and topic of the new device.

Merge static files

Merge most of the CSS files into one as most of the code is the same.

Backup database

To some other device like flash drive or external hard drive or even on Google drive or any other cloud service as there are not sensitive information stored in it.

Replace mqtt exec calls with paho

encrypt passwords in the database

Add password in the MQTT connection

Make a directory just for temporary files

use "safe" colors as the current look different from browser to browser

Create open database function

Database source file is getting unnecessary bigger.

Led strip form is not correctly displayed on smartphones

"lights" functions and all should be renamed as "two state devices"

Admin must not be able to delete himself.

When deleting a user admin account must not be an option.

Web interface improvments

Index page should be more informative
Dashboard's list color should be darker
All the administration pages must be added in admin's panel
In update password page and add user, inform user if their (new) password or/and username is too short (less than 5 characters)
Remove value from every html form as there are already placeholders
Add link to admin panel in the dashboard
Add button to redirect users back to dashboard

zombie breaks when mqtt connection can not be established

Split admin functions and pages to separate file

Change admin's password.

In the first admin's login to admin-panel, admin will have to change the default password with one of his/her own.

check if user exists in database package

Atm the check is taking place in main, instead it should take place inside the functions of database package.

lights switch button seems to not work as it should

it updates its status unexpectedly

Change the structure of the project

zombie must take care of the existence of the databases

At the moment the existence/creation of the databases is taking place inside the web app, instead it zombie has to take care of this task.

Fix structure of the project

AddUser function inserts empty user.

Unexpected behavior of the function as it adds an empty user after a successful entry of a user.

device package and database must be merged into one
