mbl-linux-4.0's Issues

System unstable

Hello,
I installed the 4.1.5 and Debian Jessie per the instructions. I verified that block size is 4K. RAID 1 is also still active, like the original mbl.
All boots fine with no errors, but when transferring a large file (1GB) over gigabit ethernet, the system hangs. The only place where I deviated from the instructions is that /dev/sda1 is ext3 while I think you recommended ext2. While issues occured with network tests, it could be related to the SATA driver.
Maybe I should just do a disk write test to verify where the issue is.
My drive is a Seagate 4TB hybrid drive.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Ewald

Ethernet driver doesn't support netpoll

Hi,

while being very happy and satified with the kernel as such, my box always keeps crashing after a few days :(

I tried to debug, but didn't have any luck so far - and I can't get netconsole to work:

modprobe netconsole netconsole="[email protected]/eth0,[email protected]/"
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'netconsole': Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
[ 1523.641556] netpoll: netconsole: local port 514
[ 1523.644808] netpoll: netconsole: local IPv4 address 192.168.1.2
[ 1523.649412] netpoll: netconsole: interface 'eth0'
[ 1523.652802] netpoll: netconsole: remote port 514
[ 1523.656104] netpoll: netconsole: remote IPv4 address 192.168.1.3
[ 1523.660795] netpoll: netconsole: remote ethernet address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
[ 1523.666354] netpoll: netconsole: eth0 doesn't support polling, aborting
[ 1523.671648] netconsole: cleaning up

any advice?

thanks again! :)

Live Duo

Hello, I want too a clean minimal debian on my live duo.
Can I use your image?
Just clone it to 1 hd, start the server, and add the second hdd later?

I am learning things like DD recently...

Kernel Cross Compilation

Hey @KL-Yang, thanks for your efforts on porting the patches to 4.0. Can you give some hints how to cross-compile the kernel for the mbl, i.e. if a softfloat toolchain is required or not? Or are you compiling on device?
