Reference

  1. Cutscenes will by default lock the game to 30fps. This alleviates that.
  2. The Save Data is normally locked to a specific Epic Games account. Re:Fined removes this restriction.
  3. Sora/Roxas immediately have MP Bars when the game begins, despite having no magic. This change will now make said MP bar invisible until the player learns their first magic spell. (Usually Fire in KH1, Blizzard in KH2.)
  4. The game originally saves everything to Documents/KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX\Epic Games Store\[EGS ID]. Re:Fined changes the path to Documents\Kingdom Hearts\Save Data\[EGS ID].
  5. In the HD remaster of KH2, the localization team changed the translation of certain attacks to contrast with their usual translations from Japanese. E.g. Ragnarok -> Infinity. This fix reverts that awful decision.
  6. Starting in Birth by Sleep, the player is given an option to retry a forced encounter instead of being sent to the room before. Re:Fined implements this feature to Kingdom Hearts II.
  7. In Kingdom Hearts III, the player is able to press "Prepare and Retry" after dying to enter the loadout menu. Re:Fined implements this feature into Kingdom Hearts II.
  8. In Kingdom Hearts, there was a convenient "Encounter Plus" ability to make the grinding experience more bearable. Re:Fined implements this ability into Kingdom Hearts II.
  9. CrazyCatz00's English Patch for Kingdom Hearts 2 - Final Mix on the PS2 had an option in the menu to switch from and to English or Japanese voice acting. This mod reimplements that to the games. There's also extra patches to have a 3rd language - it can be German, French or Spanish.
  10. In KH3, the player can reorganize their magic menu. This feature is neat, so now it's in KH2. To do this, highlight your magic command and press L2+DPAD to shift around.

[BUG] Added Sound Effects Play at Maximum Volume Regardless of Selected Sound Volume

Bug Description:
No matter the volume selected for Sound Effects or Master Volume, both the auto-save sound effect and the ability toggle sound effect (with the Reaction button) play as if both volumes were set to 10, even if the channel is muted by being set to 1.

Reproduction Steps:
Set Sound Effects volume or Master Volume to any value other than 10, then trigger an auto-save or toggle an ability on/off in the Abilities menu.

To be fair, I used the KHPatcher thing and I'm not sure if that's an exe mod at all, but I figured I'd ask in here just in case. All I've added was HD textures and the PS2 music mods. (If it is an exe edit, let me know and sorry for wasting your time!)

I cannot load my Save File and after starting a new game and watching one cutscene it never loads.

Reproduction Steps:
Tell us, step by step, how to reproduce the bug.
Simply use one of the 1.0.1.X exes and try to load the game.
It does not happen with 1.0.0.X versions or the original exe so it is specically an issue with 1.0.1.X versions of Re:Fixed 2.10

[BUG] Unable to exit through any game through its ESC menu

Bug Description: you're unable to close the game out through its ESC menu. selecting "end game" does nothing and keeps the game open

Reproduction Steps: just open any game normally through its launcher and press the ESC key after you either reach the title screen or are already playing throughout. the game will continue playing despite selecting "End game" at the end of the menu

its not a super big issue as i can just ALT+F4 but for those who dont like doing so might find this a bother.

[BUG] KH II Shan-Yu battle repeats endlessly if saved by mickey

Bug Description:
When battling Shan-Yu in the first Mulan visit. If you were saved by Mickey at least once during the battle,
The boss restarts from the beginning. The boss music doesn't even restart as this happens. Items are
kept as they were when the boss ended, so this is not like hitting restart on the game over screen either.

Reproduction Steps:
With the attached save file, load save 99. Enter the boss battle with Shan-Yu.
Make sure to die and get saved by Mickey at least once during the fight. Then proceed to win the battle. (getting saved by Mickey more than once does not seem to change the outcome). As the screen fades to white after Sora defeats Shan-Yu,
The boss cutscene restarts as if the player just entered the battle for the first time.

Re-loading the save and defeating Shan-Yu without getting saved by Mickey makes the game proceed
as intended. I was playing on critical level 1 with no other mods used. The save file was started with
re:fixed installed and had only ever been played on Refixed 1.0.0.2.

KHIIFM

Game Crash to Desktop When Scrolling Abilities - 2.75

I just updated KH2 to 2.75 and now my game is crashing to desktop with no error codes when I'm scrolling through Sora's support abilities.

Steps for me to reproduce:

  1. I just escorted Queen Minnie through the throne room (Critical Mode from the start)
  2. Finished the cutscene after the throne room
  3. Get the party change prompt
  4. Go into the abilities to equip Sora's new ability
  5. Scroll down into the support abilities
  6. Once I get to a certain point going from the top down, or from the bottom up, the game crashes to desktop. (It seems to be Experience Boost that's causing the problem. If I go from either direction, as soon as it attempts to scroll from anything to Experience Boost, it crashes)

The .dmp file is showing as updated at the time of one of the crashes, but the .dmp file is empty.

Downgraded back to "Re-Fixed for 2FM-88-v2-11-1646837718" and was able to get through to save the game. Updated back to 2.75, went back into the menu from the standard menu path and it crashed again when scrolling through Sora's support abilities.

I'm not speed runner and am primarily doing a nostalgia playthrough so I'll be staying on the old version.

Is there a way to not get prompted for updates so the startup process doesn't get interrupted?

[KH2] Audio Issues (Missing SFX/Quotes)

Has been happening since the PS3 version, every HD release is affected. Easiest way to reproduce this is to spam Sora's combo (if you go slowly attacking, you can hear more quotes) or just starting Jafar's battle. The files are there and can be heard with external tools, it's the game fault for not reproducing them.

[BUG] Enhanced FOV in KH1FM disables controller rumble.

Reproducing it is rather simple. If you go into the config menu and set the FOV to classic, rumble is on. But when you set it to enhanced, it turns off.

I'm using a wired Xbox Series X controller (which should have the same functionality as a wired Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller) for reference.

After beating Seifer on day 4 in the Struggle, after the cutscenes it takes me to the station of serenity to pick my weapon then skips the rest of Roxas's story. Also skipping the cutscenes to get the Struggle trophy I end up at the station of serenity but zoomed way out and can't move, softlocked.

Reproduction Steps:
Just beat Seifer and watch the cutscenes normally, for the other bug just skip the cutscene after beating Seifer.

[BUG] Limit Form Shortcuts Swapping

Bug Description: If Confirm is set to X/A, activating Limit Form and opening the Shortcuts menu shows Ragnarok and Sonic Blade swapping quickly between X/A and O/B. Both text and functionality swaps, so pushing the same button multiple times can trigger either attack if timed. Setting Confirm to O/B does not have this effect.

Reproduction Steps: Activate Limit Form and hold L1/LB to access the Shortcuts menu. Confirm is set to X.

[BUG] Retry Feature Bug - KH2

Bug Description:
The bug concerns the retry feature. In event fights, like bosses and storyline encounters (I have not observed this happen in other circumstances), some gameplay elements may not reset correctly.
For example, being in a drive form before dying and then retrying may have the drive form still active afterward with the same amount of drive remaining. This also occurs with summons. Another example is party members, whom if you switch during an encounter might stay after retrying, when the normal behavior is for the party to reset back to what it was. Furthermore, MP sometimes is not reset when recharging. Lastly, Items used may not return to having not been used. There may be other elements that don't reset that should that I have not noticed.
HP, however, I suppose by nature of it needing to be depleted in order to retry, always goes to full as per usual.
It's worth mentioning that this bug does not have a permanent effect. Simply dying again and retrying will correctly reset these gameplay elements. (I've never observed this bug occurring twice in a row, and I'm not sure if it can). Thus, I would rate the devastation of the bug low, however, it's annoying if grinding a boss. That's all.
(is this a native KH2 bug that happens with continuing? I can't remember.)

Reproduction Steps:
Unfortunately I found no consistent way to reproduce the bug. However, simply doing a fight (Shan-Yu and Barbosa I had this occur in a few times), doing something like using a drive, and dying over and over again should have the bug occur, as those are the conditions I found it.

[BUG] [BBS] Rename Finish prompt appears in unrelated menus

Bug Description:
Pressing Triangle/F in certain menus will bring up the Rename Finish prompt, regardless of whether you're in the Finish Command submenu or not. Upon pressing Submit or Cancel, the prompt will reappear immediately, often several times before it gives up after a seemingly random number of times (lowest recorded was 1 reappearance, highest was 5). The action assigned to Triangle/F still occurs, but the Rename Finish prompt pauses the game until an option is selected.

Reproduction Steps:

  • Open the Pause menu, either in-world or on the World Map.
  • Open any of the following menus: Command Decks, Items, Abilities, or D-links (including any of these menus' submenus).
  • Press Triangle/F while in any of these menus; the Rename Finisher prompt will show up. Submitting a name will change the Finish Command's name.

[BUG] BBS Dual Audio Crashes

Due to the missing files, Dual Audio causes crashes in some sections of the game.
Right now, the crash spots are:

  • Command Board
  • Deep Space Shuttle [Aqua Only]
  • Disney Minigames

Just doing the shits mentioned above is needed.

[BUG] KH2 Locking to 60 FPS based on camera angle?

Kingdom Hearts II

Bug Description:
Depending on the camera angle, the FPS drops to 60. During cutscenes, the game drops to 60 FPS. I noticed this in Twilight Town playing with Roxas.

Reproduction Steps:
Start a game with Roxas, the issue is immediately present based on the starting camera angle (drops to 60 FPS). Turn the camera to the left a bit, and it works fine. It's also happening in cutscenes with an unlocked framerate and all syncing methods disabled.

Additional Info:
So I read that this patch (ReFixed) is supposed to alleviate this issue, but it does not seem to work for me. It works so far in that I can skip the Roxas story, but no matter what combination of settings I use (framelimit on/off,120) or vsync on/off and gsync on/off, the game locks to 60 FPS when the camera is facing certain angles. The game is patched v1.0.0.8, the "ReFixed" patch has v1.0.0.2 in the executable name. Is that maybe why it is not working? Is there a version of this patch for v1.0.0.8?

Also, the patch provided here for v1.0.0.8 (ported by Explode) does seem to work, as there is no FPS drops to 60 when applied to the main executable:

So I could just use that, but then I would be missing out on all the other quality of life features of this patch.

[BUG] Custom magic menu resets when retrying a forced encounter or loading a save

Bug Description: Selecting retry in battles or forced encounters resets the custom magic selection you set it to.

Reproduction Steps:
Set your magic to whatever custom format for the menu.
begin a forced encounter or battle and lose it.
select retry
double check your magic menu and it will be reset

it also happens when you reload a save where you already had it customized, however i think that just cant be fixed

Bug Description: i think the game is not in my resolution, when i screenshot in fullscreen the screenshot appers with 800x600 and even in borderless the edges, edges of the characters are like if i don't have anti aliasing on, i dont know if there is a way I can force my resolution in the game

Reproduction Steps: I installed the game, applied the refixed patch, tried to put it in fullscreen 1440x900 (my resolution) and saw that it was kind of weird, I kept switching between options and saw no difference

I was going through roxas' intro like you would normally and I got to the part where you finally go into the mansion, skipped cutscene as always and it somehow put me inside Station of Serenity but extremely zoomed out where I couldn't do anything so I alt f4'd the game, on startup now there was a save on slot 99 that I loaded and it put me inside Roxas' room, happened every time I tried to go to the mansion, fixed it by reverting to the normal exe

Can you please add this for convenience of use of being able to have both what this provides and be able to load other mod scripts via the back end. Particularly for use on the steam deck as this functions fine on it. Getting the games to run at all is already a chore right now so this would be appreciated without having to putz around figuring out how to get the front end working with it too.

Automatic Retry Bug

So far I have beast's castle beaten and the auto retry hasn't occurred during any of the bosses, but on Shan-Yu the battle keeps retrying after I defeat him and if I beat him again on the second time after the first retry it will retry again and again

[BUG] KH2 certain synthesis items crash the game upon exiting shop

Bug Description:
When entering the Moogle Synth Shop and hovering over certain items (Frozen Pride or Serenity Crystal are a few examples I could find) it shows some corrupted text that involves the Limit Command. If you hover over them at all while navigating the menu, once you exit the Moogle Shop, the game will crash.

KH1 - Ultrawide Fix Not Working

Having trouble with ultrawide using ReFixed 2.10. So far, have used all available .exe's from the ReFixed v2.10 zip file for Kingdom hearts 1. Have made sure my game is set to fullscreen with the correct resolution (3440 x 1440). There are still black bars on left and right of screen using this mod. I have tried the following:
-Kingdom Hearts - Final Mix v1.0.0.0
-Kingdom Hearts - Final Mix v1.0.0.2
-Kingdom Hearts - Final Mix v1.0.1.0
-Kingdom Hearts - Final Mix v1.0.1.2
My monitor is 21:9 3440x1440.

About KH2-ReFixed

More of a question than an issue, so I'm awfully sorry for bothering you.

So, the Readme shows that there is a KH2 ReFixed, is it purely tentative and something that is coming soon, or something that I can actually use now. Since KH1 ReFixed is readily available in the releases tab.

[BUG] Autosave not activating in KH2

Bug Description:
Autosave is not activated in the latest version of KH Re:Fixed when playing Kingdom Hearts II.

Reproduction Steps:
Load a save, and keep entering new rooms several times. The game does not overwrite the auto-save slot (99). The same happens with exe versions [v1.0.0.0] and [v1.0.0.2]. I can confirm that the Re:Fixed is otherwise working, since other features do work, e.g. having an option to skip Roxas' story, and using soft reset works normally.
Other tests: reverting to Re:Fixed 1.50 for KH2 makes the autosave activate on slot 99 whenever I reload a save, so old versions seem to be unaffected. Autosave seems to work normally in KH1 when using Re:Fixed 2.10.

Supporting the MULTI5 and JP Releases

This issue exists to make certain the following are satisfied for all releases:

  • Any function that overwrites Limit Form text is disabled.
  • Any function that overwrites any other text is translated.
  • Any changes in addresses are accommodated.

ASM Hacks or the EXE does not need to be ported, as the US EXE works with all the others.

For the Japanese release only:

  • Dual Audio engine is reversed to JP & EN instead of EN & JP.
  • Any ASM change that takes place is to be ported to the new files.

That's it. May not seem like much, but it will sure add a layer of complication to... everything.
A complete refactoring may be deemed necessary.

Attempting to close the game via the Game Settings menu does not work, and returning to the game selection menu causes an infinite load screen.

Reproduction Steps:
Access game settings menu with escape key from either the title screen or the pause menu, then choose the option to quit game. Application will not close, but resume as it was.

Chain of Memories Support

This issue will be an indication of the progress being made on Chain of Memories support for Re:Fixed.

  • Removal of the 30FPS Framelimiter when in Cutscenes on 60FPS and above.
  • Addition of the Soft Reset feature with START + SELECT as it's keybind.
  • Addition of Discord Rich Presence, customized for Chain of Memories.

  • Make Leon and Cloud Battles play "Face It!".
  • I think I can make Zero EXP happen.

[BUG] Game crashing on a new world's starting cutscene.

Bug Description:
Model's bugged out early on in a new game with Re:Fixed, and after entering a new world and getting part way into the cutscene, game crashes. Happens first on Enchanted Dominion, then the Dwarf Woodlands.

Reproduction Steps:
Just naturally playing the game seemed to cause it. Seems to be based on time spent ingame, since I skipped the cutscenes before leaving the Land of Depature, and made it to the Enchanted Dominion just fine, before crashing while going to the Dwarf Woodlands. This is a new download of 1.5/2.5, no Birth By Sleep saves, no mods used beyond Re:Fixed. A model always bugged out in a cutscene before the crash however.

The issue of Autosave.

As some of you may know, Autosaving is a finnicky process and must be implemented differently for every game. And as such, currently, no version of Re:Fixed supports it.

So, in order to change this, this issue is made to track the progress of autosaving and how it will be implemented.

The general features should be the same for every game:

  • Save once every 3 transitions, or on every world transition.
  • Do not save on events, bosses, or loads.
  • Make an indication of the save. This is preferably a box or a pop-up, but if not, will be a sound effect.

Some games are proving trivial to autosave, such as Kingdom Hearts 2. But some may prove impossible to autosave without difficulty, such as Kingdom Hearts 1.

Will investigate further.

[BUG] Auto saving stopped working in KH1

Bug Description:
Auto saving stopped working. It was working fine when I first installed version v1.0.1.2. Then I wanted to reinstall the original .exe so I did to test something. After testing the original .exe I reinstalled v1.0.1.2 .exe and it stopped working. Everything else is working like the field of view mod, the soft reset and the others. Only auto save seems broken. I tried deleting the .dat file but that didn't fix it either. I also uninstalled the game and removed all files in the documents directory. Then I reinstalled the game and the mods and it still refuses to autosave. There is no file in slot 99. KH2 and BBS work fine.

[FEATURE REQUEST] Nvidia bug fix, Confirm button fix, Nintendo button layout

Hello, I just learned about this patch, and I would like to know if these features would be possible in a future update:

Nvidia graphics bug fix
I noticed a bug when playing in my RTX 3090 PC that some worlds have this texture bug. Sometimes this also happens when pausing, especially during the Gummi Ship stages. I've tried the game in an older PC with GTX 960, and none of the bugs happen. Not even official updates tried to fix this bug. So far I've noticed this in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, as I haven't played the other games yet. Here's a sample of what's happening: https://imgur.com/a/J9oKxZG

Confirm button fix
As you know, there's the option in the game that lets you select which button to use as the Confirm button, either X/A or Circle/B. However this also results in the functions of said buttons being inverted in-game, with the Jump button becoming Attack, and vice versa. A fix to prevent this button inversion (for example, choose Circle/B as Confirm, and keep it as Jump at the same time) would be nice.

Nintendo button layout
So the options available in the game are PlayStation buttons and XBOX buttons. A nice addition would be a Nintendo button layout for those who use the Switch controller or other controllers that use the layout, like the 8bitdo controllers.

So far the current fixes and features are looking good. Keep it up!
