This is an Excel add-in that creates backup of a workbook before saving it. Tested on Windows 7 x64 & Excel 2012.

Should work on Windows 7+ (both x32 and x64) with Excel 2012+.

Default backup folder located at %USERPROFILE%\Documents\ExcelPreviousFileVersions. You can change this folder on Add-Ins ribbon tab.

How to use:

  • Download latest release
  • Extract downloaded archive
  • Run setup.exe and follow installation instructions
  • Enable add-in in Excel preferences

WARNING!

This add-in is unsigned! In order to make this add-in to work you may need to enable execution of unsigned add-ins in Excel preferences.

How to compile:

Prerequisites:

  • Visual Studio 2019
  • Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) Visual Studio component

Compile:

  • Open solution (.sln) in Visual Studio
  • Choose Build Solution from Build menu
