CS3103 Web Crawler

Install Dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt
python -m spacy download en_core_web_sm

Running the Crawler

python src/main.py

Response times to the servers, IP addresses and geolocation of the servers will be written to data/results.json, along with all URLs found within the webpage.

Database

Implement database, CSV should be simplest, but anything also can.
Needs to store:

  • URL
  • IP address
  • response time
  • region
  • links scraped from the given URL
  • search terms and their frequency of occurrence (maybe a separate table with URL or IP address as the primary key, then with search term and frequency columns?)

Crawler

Implement crawler, should spawn multiple instances of Scraper and then store all their results into the database.
