A query was recently made if the library could write non-uniform boundary fields. I think this would be straightforward to extend the existing parse_boundary_field and write_field_data in field_parser.py. If anyone wants to submit a PR for this, please feel free.

It would be a good addition to incorporate a function to read data from several times and output as a single array, rather than the user having to loop over the data themselves.
It would be ideal to make this a general utility that could be used with field_parser and lagrangian_parser
