When I run kiss.py on example.mdwn using Python v. 2.7.2, it chokes on the unicode 'heart' character in the 9th slide:

UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\u2665' in position 64: ordinal not in range(128)

This happens because the output of sys.getfilesystemencoding() on my system is ANSI_X3.4-1968, an ASCII character set that doesn't recognize unicode. When I replace sys.getfilesystemencoding() with 'utf8', kiss.py works as expected. I'm not sure if my system configuration is anomalous, but using 'utf8' instead of relying on the vagaries of users' file system encodings should fix this for other users without introducing any new problems.
