For around 200 nodes: 255.704965 seconds (1.77 G allocations: 92.691 GiB, 13.29% gc time)

The ~92GiB allocation is likely the problem here. Best place to look is the memory allocations inside the factor residual functions being used?

Aside: remember that resdiual functions are called from multiple threads as well as multiple processes. Different Threads.threadid() will result in race conditions if you are reusing memory in the residual function / factor type definition. Easiest is to split reuse data across ::Vector{T} given Threads.nthreads().
