Hello there...sober creative!
Just found this topic trying to figure out how to run Cyberstorm on Win7. Thank you for all help.
Now is my time to return the favor, ammong countless (aparently still usless) things i saved from web i'm happy work of this (at least) one guy can now resurface...to bring happy and joy.
I have this Mod, and also a die-hard-elite fan who even if is not a creator himself, did share a nice guide.

Write to me on [email protected] if you have any questions...or seek something without hope - one might never know.
Regards!
The .bat seems to have issues copying the data to it's current location. It copied everything to System32 on my System.
Hi,
I'd like to propose patched RBX files for 3D Ultra MiniGolf (Deluxe and standard 1.0) concerning the French version.
I didn't find the French patch v1.1 for MiniGolf standard, so only v1.0 is patched.
Maybe you could add thoses files to your RBXIT Win7 Patches.
If you want to try, you can download ISO file for the French version:
3D Ultra Minigolf Deluxe: http://www.abandonware-france.org/telechargement/clic/http/37251/files/
3D Ultra Minigolf: http://www.abandonware-france.org/telechargement/clic/http/55785/files/
Hope it's useful!
Regards!
I ran the patch as directed, and the game certainly loads and plays without crashing, but the voice clips play over each other, and the MIDI music doesn't seem to be working (this version of the game doesn't have MP3s I'm pretty sure).
I just got 3-D Ultra MiniGolf from My Abandonware. It seems MINIGOLF.EXE
could be patched, rather than all the sounds: change the byte at 0x30819 from 0x65 to 0x3E (the download is already patched, so that's v1.1; for the technically minded it replaces gs:
with ds:
). I suspect other exes could be similarly patched, check for the hex sequence 65 8A 06 66 89 43 1C 46
.
Hi there, I do own what appears to be a German version of 3·D Ultra MiniGolf AKA "MaxiMiniGolf" the "BigFun Software" edition.
I am running Windows 10 x64, Version 21H1, Build 19043.1052, I first tried downloading the 1.1. update from the sierrahelp site, but the update installer would report "file found not in old version", so I wonder whether this means the version on that CD is already the version 1.1 so I skipped that,
Then I downloaded your patcher 3DUltraMiniGolf-German-10-11-Win7fix.r4.exe which would abort with "error during audio file patching, Maybe already patched, wrong region or unknown print", then I would download your patcher as perhaps what I have is the deluxe version without me knowing? 3DUltraMiniGolfDeluxe-German-20-Win7fix.r5.exe
It aborted with the same message. When trying the non-deluxe patcher once more and then the deluxe patcher again, the 2nd time aound the deluxe patcher would finally patch something but after some minutes also aborts with the error message error during audio file patching, Maybe already patched, wrong region or unknown print"
Well, it seems to have done something though as the game no longer appears to reandomly crash.
I wonder why the patcher for the deluxe version would first try abort and 2nd try do something and then finish with the same error message regardless?
First: thanks so much for attempting this! You're a hero.
Second: but, it didn't work. :)
I'll paste the full output from the patcher below, but first the basic specs:
Win7 64-bit Ultimate.

Files sizes were as shown in your post for the USA version, but I note my cybdata4.rbx modify time is one hour earlier (perhaps a timezone/daylight savings thing?)

One last thing: got an error in luna mission 4 waypoint 3: "Assert: Line 69 in "objlist.cpp": ObjList: drawTable full". Do you have any idea about that one?

As reported on the GOG version, their version does not load the help file for Bioderm Biographies when in the Bioderm Facility > Biovat. When hovering over the Bioderm's avatar, the popup help says this: "Right click to view the BGM donor's history". Well, it turns out my RBXIT rebuild of the help file doesn't do this either due to these being subtopic links to points mid-page on the Bioderm Biographies page, which I didn't account for in the recompile because I failed to notice I needed to.
More info here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/missionforce_cyberstorm/bioderm_history_bug
Because a subtopic request from CSTORM looks exactly like a topic request, there is no obvious solution when trying to translate that call to a CHM help file URL. That is, without building more tech.
The first idea that came to mind is to maybe expand the tools to look for mid-page links and auto create a redirect page for each one. This sounds a bit messy on the source files front... and I don't yet know if CHM supports redirect meta commands anyhow.
The next idea is to (more or less manually) create a lookup file for translating CSTORM requests to CHM URLS, page top or mid-page. I'm in full control of how I build the middleman MVIEWER2.EXE. Thus, this is doable, if not messier on the provided-files front.
Another idea is to look more at how CHMs handle topics and maybe manually expand the decompiled topic list to include the missing subtopic calls. Then, see if I can load the CHM by topic instead of URL, which I believe I can... but, apparently, can't. Even if I could, it appears I would still need a lookup file. CHMs can load by Map ID, but those aliases would need to be created from scratch and, again, still needs a lookup table due to numeric IDs. Will probably go with the second idea above.
Greetings. Thank you for the CyberStorm update!
Where is the setting for full-screen mode vs Windowed mode ?
Is there a way to customize the mouse buttons ?
The text below is for AutoHotKey for a 5 button mouse.

Just wanted to say thanks to you Matt. I tried your new patch today, and it worked like a charm on my Windows 10, 64bit machine.
Full screen resolution, loads and saves work, etc. Just like it was meant to be.
Thanks again.
Hi, I'm working on WIN1064 playability of ES2, which is quite a task, as you surely know.
I discovered you looking for hints on issues with that game in the internet, you seem to be one of the most advanced experts working on these problems, I re-discovered many of the issues in your ES2 sections I was already fiddling with before.
My problem sadly is still not listed anywhere, so I'll try to explain. I got everything working fine so far but there is still one annoying issue. If I use my ripped ES2 CD for the redbook audio tracks via physical or virtual drive, the game starts to play the music correctly, but never loops. After 2 minutes+Xseconds everything is silent, kinda non-atmospheric. Now inmm.dll provides help for this and actually works well. It's the same method that was used by the old Sierra Help Pages installer. You just patch the DBSIM.EXE with INMM and the game can play and, more importantly, loop my ripped wav or mp3 from the folder.
But as soon as I do that, the registry patched joystick emulation as recommended by your tips (I actually used the compatibility administrator 32bit manually for this) ceases to work. I have no clue why this happens. It doesn't help re-installing, the order of implementing either the inmm patch or the compatibility settings doesn't have any effect either. It certainly is a result of the modification by inmm, I can just use the backup exe provided by inmm.dll after that and joystick starts responding again.
I know I could maybe write some batch file for making the files loop manually with hotkeys, but this sounds rather annoying to do within gameplay. INMM.DLL is actually very useful with this issue, if I could just prevent it from killing the joystick compatibility settings.
Do you have any ideas for a workaround for this?
Cheers,
n
Thank you so much for the 3-D Ultra Minigolf patcher, I just played my beloved childhood-game again after almost 18 years.
I am from Germany and my parentes liked that game a lot, too. I understand the english comments in the game, but my parents don't. So I headed up to ebayto buy a German version.
I tried to patch the files, but it won't work, as they have other filesize than the English ones.
Is there a way to patch the German files in an easy way, too? I can send you the RBX-files, if that's a way )I would host them on dropbox).
Kind regards and thanks again for that patch.
Have the non-deluxe version of 3-D Ultra Minigolf from 1997 on a Family MegaHits cd... I'm running Windows 10 64 bit (computer has both 32/64 bit c:/programfiles folders)
I click autorun and the installer opens up... where it says install, uninstall, run, and quit.
Run and Uninstall don't let me click on them. If I click on quit it closes the installer. If I click install it says "The program or feature "blah blah blah" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.
I did try copying the files off the cd... and downloading and running the patcher, but the patcher fails... I can't even install the game in the first place (which you did have it installed in your youtube video... it just wouldn't run)
I have tried both compatibility mode and running as administrator and neither has worked... as I'm stuck with all 64-bit options.
Only get black screens, nothing.
@TheRaccoonKing -- Good news and bad news for you. The good news is that I was able to break one of my test installs like how you are experiencing. That bad news for you is that I was able to recover from it exactly according to my theory in the troubleshooting section. I've tweaked the wordage a bit and included here for your convenience in case you want to give it another go.
CSTORM-Compatibility-Unset.bat
CSTORM-Compatibility-Set.bat
CSTORM.EXE
and good luck!If that doesn't work, see the additional notes I added after that in the troubleshooting section about other install folders and reading the registry.
Hi Mr. Jernigan,
first of all, thank you for your outstanding work. IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING WHAT YOU ACCOMPLISHED. I tried to get to run this on Win Vista+ for several years, but got distracted by university...
Anyhow, the patch does not work with the german version of 3D Ultra Minigolf Deluxe. Is there any way I could upload you the files for examination?
Thank you for your attention.
Best Regards
Okay I have about given up trying to get this game to save. I keep getting a Error code then the game fails.

Hello,
First of all, thank you so much for all your patchs ! They are very impressive, and avoid people like myself a lot of headaches ! :)
As you may know already from way back when I tested the French release of your patch for MiniGolf, I have a hobby which is helping people to run their old games, and often the result are hosted on the french website www.abandonware-france.org
For example, EarthSiege 2 uses DOSBox + Windows 3.11 :
https://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_abandon/ltf_jeu.php?id=1622&fic=liens
It works very well, and this way I was able to use no patch whatsoever.
Plus I like to use Windows 3, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
Those "versions automatiques" we host are designed to give everything in one package to the user, and hide all the technical stuff behind a ready to go solution
Sadly for CSTORM, will it kind of works inside Windows 3.11 with Win32S, it isn't designed for it (DSOUND usage means complete silence. Also, no access to the window's menus), and therefore I tried your patch.
It works very well, albeit I added a few modifications :
Parts not used :
Finally, I figured that the automated installer can be modified to download your patch, in order to keep your motivation up. But, I don't know if that would be useful, as GitHub doesn't display download numbers.
Edit : I forgot to mention that the installer displays at the end a "huge thanks to juanitogan on GitHub" note, and it links to your blog and to this project on GitHub. It's also inside the installation folder in "remerciements.txt".
And I can contribute my modifications to your patch through GitHub if you want.
So, waddya say ? ;)
Any plans to make the rbxit patch compatible with the recently released digital version of MissionForce: Cyberstorm on GOG.com?
Thanks in advance.
It runs first except for one problem : the game will randomly crash with a "the memory could not be read from" error during adventures, and since you can't save during adventures, that can result in a lot of progress wasted.
