This looks like it should use a ValidatingWebhook, during deployment of the operator a new ValidatingWebhookConfiguration should be set up, pointing at an endpoint the Operator exposes.

Adding the Admission Webhook would add a lot of overhead to a normal install, with certs having to be set up etc. Closing this as it would drastically increase complexity of an install.
