Situation

Because of a limitation with the Obsidian Kindle Plugin, if you do any of the following, your highlights and notes will not be updated unless you delete the .md files and re-sync:

• Deleted highlights
• New, modified, or deleted notes

Solution

Creating a script to do the following should work:

• Delete the .md files in the Obsidian folder where the contents of this vault live.
• Open this vault.
• Wait about 10 minutes for Kindle highlights and notes to re-sync.
• Close this vault.

Benefits

• Reduces labor hours.

Situation

Changes to files need to be manually committed and submitted as a PR.

Solution

1. Create a script for committing the changes and submitting a pull request.
2. Set that script to run after the scripts for updating the files run daily.

• Reduces manual work.

Situation

The "Open in Kindle" button is inactive and cannot be pressed. Tried using the template variable items and using HTML in Markdown. Neither works.

Solution

Not sure yet. Need to do research and testing.

• Allows Kindle books to be opened by clicking on the link on the page.

Situation

The right-hand TOC contains multiple "Highlights" headings on each page, which is awkward. However, this is the default behavior in Material for MkDocs.

Solution

Consider doing one of the following:

• Remove the TOC.
• Automatically add numbers to each "Highlight" heading (e.g., "Highlight 1", "Highlight 2", etc.).

Benefits

• Makes navigation cleaner.
