Adding progress bars is not trivial in QGIS, because Python by default blocks signals and the entire interface when busy with the main process, and only updates when finished. Therefore, only then it gives a full progress bar... pretty useless.
One way to get it to work is by running the analysis in a separate thread and getting signals from it about progress of the function to update the progress bar. I'll see if I find time to prepare a simple general example.
But maybe these threads help:
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/45514/how-do-i-maintain-a-resposive-gui-using-qthread-with-pyqgis
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/94477/how-to-use-threads-in-pyqgis-mainly-to-keep-ui-active
At the end of this one they suggest a different approach in case you don't need a responsive GUI (i.e. the user can't interact) but I'm not sure it works.
An additional step is to see if the code can be faster. The intersects test is looping through all buildings and buffers making it a huge loop.
Can we make a smaller loop?
Can we add a spatial index to the buffer or points layer and search the index first to loop less elements?
Can we use processing tools that are optimised and faster?
