Time spent: 10 hours spent in total
The following required functionality is completed:
- User can scroll through current movies from the Movie Database API
- Display a nice default placeholder graphic for each image during loading
- For each movie displayed, user can see the following details:
- Title, Poster Image, Overview (Portrait mode)
- Title, Backdrop Image, Overview (Landscape mode)
- Allow user to view details of the movie including ratings within a separate activity
The following stretch features are implemented:
- Improved the user interface by experimenting with styling and coloring.
- Apply rounded corners for the poster or background images using Glide transformations
- Apply the popular View Binding annotation library to reduce boilerplate code.
- Allow video trailers to be played in full-screen using the YouTubePlayerView from the details screen.
The following additional features are implemented:
- List anything else that you can get done to improve the app functionality!

Describe any challenges encountered while building the app.
The main challenges I encountered where the user stories that did not have a video walkthrough (Placeholder and Movie details). In the case of the placeholder I had to make sure I trully understood the basic functionality of Glide because the resourced regarding it confused me a bit but with some Google I was able to figure it out. In the case of the extra activity to display the movie details I revisited the resources from Day 1 and adapted them to this new proyect. With the foundation I built in Day 1 the rest wasn't really that hard to figure out. When working on the youtube video player I had to solve an issue that apparently happens only on Android 11 where the app couldn't recognize or access the youtube app, it took some time but it worked in the end.
