IT (Home Setup Diagram)

I know my way around Linux, Windows, IT, programming and generally like to always try to understand most of the things I stumble across every day.

My current keen interest area is Dev - Ops — Specifically, in my current decision case, IaaC with Ansible/Terraform/Amazon Web Services and Continious Automated Integration/Delivery with GitHub Actions and Docker.
I will never get bored of my enthusiasm for web development, the browser, the backend and everything around it, as well as the perspectives that they still offer and make possible for us today.

Details

These are very fascinating topics that are fundamentally changing the way software development and deployment is done. Servers / VMs are transformed from sacred "don’t touch" black box systems into simple disposable and on-demand createable goods. It is the pinnacle of automation and reproducibility.

And the crazy thing is that nothing has fundamentally changed - It’s just that the solutions (Linux, SSH, HTTP, TLS, ..) and concepts (TCP/IP, ..) that were created a long time ago by very smart people are so crazily thought-of princibles which we’re all just slowly sticking together and extending continously. IT is amazing.

🌱 Having just completed an IT apprenticeship, I am currently studying for various certifications (CCNA, MSCA, FSNE 1-4, RHCSA, …) to solidify my knowledge and help myself making the decision on which path to truly pursue by digging into each of them.

ansible-role-checkmk_server's Issues

fix: adjust for new distro's

CheckMk is not CentOS-exclusive when it comes to RHEL, it's just an example. so change the code to not mention CentOS explicitly but rather the os_family (RedHat) and also update to include support for RHEL 9 (rockylinux9) introduced in latest cookiecutter update

[check-new-versions.yml] Please create a new release for 2.0.0p27

The default checkmk version has recently been updated from 2.0.0p26 (in 2.0.2) to 2.0.0p27, but no new GitHub release/tag has been created for it.

Automated Version Updating is halted until a new version is released. For convenience you can use the following link to create a new release:

https://github.com/JonasPammer/ansible-role-checkmk_server/releases/new?tag=2.0.3&target=15-ci-extend-cipy-with-nicety-link-to-create-new-minor-release&title=update%20default%20to%20v2.1.0&body=Accompanying%20%60ansible-role-checkmk_agent%60%20release%3A%20%5B1.0.2%5D%28https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2FJonasPammer%2Fansible-role-checkmk_server%2Freleases%2Ftag%2F1.0.2%29

ci: extend ci.py with nicety link to create new minor release

The page to create new release accepts http get params to prefill the fields

Add such a link to ci.py pr body

Tag should be filled by getting current latest version tag and incrementing minor

Title should be smaller than the one in the commit/pr (e.g. not include from, or just say "update default version to xyz")

Desc should contain same things as commit, e.g. compare page and date of checkmk release. Maybe even add note to which agent role version (and vice verca) have this same checkmk version

cross-check with tribe29's new checkmk-agent role

Looks like tribe29 did not abandon their ansible roles: Checkmk/ansible-checkmk@ff39644

Checkout functionalities of https://github.com/tribe29/ansible-collection-tribe29.checkmk/blob/main/roles/server/README.md and potentially implement them in same way.

maybe even take a look at their modules and include wrapper functionality for them in this role (e.g. similiar to how my https://github.com/JonasPammer/ansible-role-openssl role is a wrapper of modules)
